Worth a buy?
When I played Elex 1 for the first time it just brought me back to those times of Gothic and Risen 1 ... I enjoyed the game incredibly and played 2 times back to back, having so much fun, because I am sucker for PB. Now I am really thinking about getting Elex 2 but I am really in a dilemma about it, they changed how the Main character looks , I also heard that the combat is downgraded in a sense as well... there are all kinds of reviews and opinions... but is it worth getting now, while it's on sale?

My apologies Ultimatum. You've entered a forum that's plagued by a handful of haters. Most of the regular Steam users have abandoned the forum or have become strictly lurkers only.

If you liked the first Elex and especially if you liked previous PB titles, you'll enjoy Elex 2. I promise.

Note: When "they" crawl out from wherever they hide in between posting the same old misinformation or how much they despise the game, they'll tell you I'm wrong and Elex 2 will definitely not become your favourite PB game ever. See what they do? I didn't say that.

So again, I can promise you you will enjoy Elex 2 because of what you wrote in your post. If you'd like to read my personal opinions on Elex 2, check out my review for the game. And if you decide to play and have questions about Elex 2, do post them. Don't worry about the unhelpful replies by our resident haters and wait for an adult to reply. We are still around :Winking:

Thank you. Yes, I can tell you with absolute certainty that I was literally blown away after I played the first game a year ago (I believe.. when I got my brand new PC at the time). Elex just pulled me in completely and it brought me back to the time when I experienced Gothic series for the first time as well as the first Risen game, I've always loved PB since when I was kid... the reason I am overthinking it a bit. and maybe needlessly is because when I first saw the "graphical style" change in Elex II I was not a big fan but I am someone that doesn't pay that much mind to graphics anyway if the game is extremely interesting. In any case I have read you review and took a look at your Steam profile and I can tell you that I appreciate your opinion especially since your profile delivers a lot of confidence (Not lvl 0 private, you actually PLAYed all the games that you own, thoroughly, and we actually like the same genres) . I am leaning heavily towards buying the game

Elex 2 is much weaker than Elex 1. It's an uninspired last effort, plagued by an aged engine, which clearly can't deal with the CPU overhead necessary.

Both games run on the same engine (Genome). Then how can 2 "be weaker than" 1 because of the game engine? Oh you! You say the darndest things, don't you?

I think it's absolutely worth a buy. It's my favorite game of all time.

One of them recently rewarded me with a whopping 30 "Jester" awards, fanatically going through my reviews and screenshots as to leave them there. Thanks! The points for the Steam Points shop will be spent well. Not even such a flood of Jester awards will stop me from posting about about ELEX or older games from Piranha Bytes.

Gothic 3, if it's about games from Piranha Bytes. Magicians with mana regeneration, seeking missile spells and devastating high-level AoE spells in a true seamless open world as in Gothic 3 is just so good.

Reading comprehension is not your strong point, isn't it? The *engine* can't deal with the CPU *overhead* needed to display the *higher res* (than ELEX1) textures. It also renders WAY too many unnecessary occluded textures, which is why the performance drops to nothing in the big hubs.
Also: performance problems were already visible in Elex 1 in certain areas, the engine just doesn't have enough modern techniques available to increase performance.

Your money won't go to the developers, might as well play it some other way.

I understand that PB is no longer around, but I mean, I bought the first game and have it on steam, might as well do so with the second, and you know, If Elex II offers the same level as exploration I will get it
When it comes to exploration, you're good with Elex 2 :steamhappy:

Jack Maker implies pirating the game, which is against the rules here and against common sense.

On a different note, if you like PB games I wouldn't skip Risen 2 & Risen 3 completely. I do recommend a ranged build (muskets), especially in Risen 2. These games are often sold for a fiver or less, which is money well spent for a PB game that's a lot of fun if you don't go for a melee build. That's just my opinion, of course.

You know Kris, you may be right... The reason I never really played Risen 2 & 3 , and avoided those 2 games is because the pirate theme was never really attractive to me, you know... but If I find the time, I may as well get those 2 games, and actually give them a go, just for the fact that I am huge fan, nothing more....

You need a more modern hardware then. I used to have issues you mention with ryzen 5600 and 6700 xt, in towns, i was not hitting 60s fps. Now with 5700x3d 4070 super, i dont go below 60, hardly ever, average is 70-80 fps.
1440p ultra.
