Not a single crash after ~35 hours. Considering it's one of the biggest and most complex open-world RPGs of its generation, I can say I have been immensely satisfied with it. It starts kinda weak, much worse than Elex 1, but gets better and better as you dive deeper into its factions and conflicts.
That is nice. I am glad that you can play the game without issues, unlike most of us.

I've ran almost entirely on DX12. I do suffer with the weird washed out bright night thing as well, but I usually just go to sleep, so a new beautiful perfectly rendered morning starts again.

Well, after Gothic 3 and Risen 3, I'll definitely put my expectations on the ground for E3.

Elex 2 does have a nice day/night cycle in DX12. The issue is just with a part of the night time, which I usually bypass by sleeping.

I remember promo shots of Risen 3 showing mostly medieval and Gothic-like graphics, armor, etc. I remember it was implied that they were veering away from the pirate theme and going for a more Gothic/Risen 1 theme, and then BAM, still pirates. I didn't mind the pirate them, but it was a drastic departure from Risen 1 that it felt like a different world altogether. Even if they fix Elex II (which I doubt but there is hope, I suppose,) I worry about Elex 3 and what comes next. Not that any of that will matter if they fail to fix Elex II, as I will be done, after all of these years.
They already changed the Berserkers. Berserkers are very different. Before they were medieval and now they look like military.

In E1, Berserkers were pantheist hippies. In E2, they are corrupt as f*ck pantheist hippies.

I'd say this: don't try to sympathize with any factions or characters in Piranha Bytes games. Their games are always heavy in irony and satire, like 19th century novels of the realism genre (a very fertile era of writers and literary works, needless to say).

On my previous gtx 1080, the game was borderline unplayable, but now on my 4090 it's almost as enjoyable as the good old Gothic I with its quirks and old school shenanigans. The hand crafted world of Elex rivals the details and vastness of Fallout 4, Ubisoft conveyor belt worlds pale in comparison. Unfortunately, PB can't seem to get their act together - still piss-poor post-launch support and terrible timing with their launches amidst the oversaturated market ... and that terrible IGN review ("there can be only Elden Ring hurr durr") will forever tarnish this sequel.

P.s. - dx12 is absolutely needed for the game to utilize latest gpus and cpus, dx11 is so old at this point your rig will go idle when running this game.

Same with Callisto Protocol, if you play it in DX11 there are *many* scenes and areas where the drawcall count is so high that it utterly cripples performance.. despite not utilising CPU and GPU even up to 50%. Switch back to DX12? Substantially better performance and much higher utilisation in those areas.

And in return you get horrible shader compilation stutter. Sigh.

At launch it was *literally* unplayable, but thankfully - two patches later, one of which was 13GB, most stalls are eliminated and few and far between for the rest. Even in DX12 mode.

Yup. I'm a longstanding opinion holder that developers/publishers need to start being held legally accountable for what they charge money for. Every other business is, why not gaming too? I'm tired of it, truly sick and tired of it, always buying a new game and it ends up fundamentally broken and we either have to wait for fixes or suck up the fact they may never BE fixed.

Elex 2 is the perfect example, launched in March of this year and still broken in December. It ain't right.
Marlon Dec 8, 2022 @ 2:43pm
Elex 2 still have two major bugs: Bright nights and shadows being generated in our faces.

But I think it's all. The game was really unplayable at launch (I've asked for a refund) but now is fully playable.

I am almost finishing the campaign and did't have found any gamebreaker bug (aka missions being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up)

Clearly more have to be done. And I'm hopeful that PB will do.
