I've ran almost entirely on DX12. I do suffer with the weird washed out bright night thing as well, but I usually just go to sleep, so a new beautiful perfectly rendered morning starts again.
Elex 2 does have a nice day/night cycle in DX12. The issue is just with a part of the night time, which I usually bypass by sleeping.
In E1, Berserkers were pantheist hippies. In E2, they are corrupt as f*ck pantheist hippies.
I'd say this: don't try to sympathize with any factions or characters in Piranha Bytes games. Their games are always heavy in irony and satire, like 19th century novels of the realism genre (a very fertile era of writers and literary works, needless to say).
P.s. - dx12 is absolutely needed for the game to utilize latest gpus and cpus, dx11 is so old at this point your rig will go idle when running this game.
Same with Callisto Protocol, if you play it in DX11 there are *many* scenes and areas where the drawcall count is so high that it utterly cripples performance.. despite not utilising CPU and GPU even up to 50%. Switch back to DX12? Substantially better performance and much higher utilisation in those areas.
At launch it was *literally* unplayable, but thankfully - two patches later, one of which was 13GB, most stalls are eliminated and few and far between for the rest. Even in DX12 mode.
Elex 2 is the perfect example, launched in March of this year and still broken in December. It ain't right.
But I think it's all. The game was really unplayable at launch (I've asked for a refund) but now is fully playable.
I am almost finishing the campaign and did't have found any gamebreaker bug (aka missions being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up)
Clearly more have to be done. And I'm hopeful that PB will do.
Still 332 days until christmas
