This game is a total Joke (Honest Review)

So, I waited for Elex 2 (I will not be waiting for any piranha game anymore)

The trailer was great. Good music, good setting. Got me all hyped up.

Game looks ugly, you get 3 female companions and a kid, all of which are ugly as hell, nothing like the trailer CGI's, the models look atrocious, and you don't want to romance any of them at all. Go back to 2015, open Witcher 3, and see a million times better graphics and facial animations, and models that are attractive.

Role Playing Game ? No. There is about nothing in this game that is Role Playing, but fake promises, fake choices (very few of them in dialogue), you literally cannot have a choice or role play. Even destruction meter is a joke and does quite literally nothing to the game.

Factions? Are all empty with different decorations, none of them feel like a faction in a true sense.

Your own base? You never feel that you are developing a power or your own faction, NEVER. Go play old games like neverwinter nights or even dragonage.

Both factions and base development does not feel genuine, it feels like the world is inert, can't do anything on its own and you are a babysitter running around changing diapers for everyone to "save the world".

The world feels dull and boring, there is a lot of lacking from journal that would tag quests to map exploration points which you have to set yourself and its broken. The game map is also tiny and does not look great or organic at all. It is a broken world with sudden change between snow, desert and forest.

Fighting? This is the 1 button right click game. There are no fighting mechanics involved at all. It is simplified to absolute primitive level of early consoles. You will get bored out of fighting after an hour or two. You would think even gothic 2 had some combos, and different fighting styles depending on mastery level, but here it is a way way worse than a 20 year old game.

Game length. I have fully beaten the game with all quests in about 22-24 hours. It is short. And this is counting the quests quality, which is literally like. Go around the half map and kill 100 drones. GREAT. WASTE. OF TIME. mindless grind to satisfy quest conditions.

Story writing is awful, it has plot holes, pointless things, pointless dialogues, Caja saying good job after her kid dies, is just a cherry on the top of the pyramid of lackluster work.

I am, and was a big fan of Gothic 2 - Night of the Raven, but lets be honest here, PB is on a decline for over a decade, and the game quality keeps getting worse and worse.

i cant understand how you can beat this game in 22 hours without skipping like at least half of the content. Not even talking about exploration.

Even though Elex 2 has it flaws (which, imo, every single PB game had), i would not say its getting worse and worse. Personally, the worst game was Risen 2, and after that it gets better and better again. Not in Gothic 2 level, but this is nearly impossible, since G2 is a masterpiece and personally the best RPG out there.

I completed it after approx. 75 hours and had fun most of the time. But every single point the OP mentioned is true and a huge disappointment.

Apparently factions are at WAR, but NOTHING ever happens, no random or even scripted fights and engagements between them, it's all just static. See how this can be done like in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. CS. You are the only dork to fix the world. I didn't want any of them to survive because I just didn't care. In older games like Gothic you really did care for your mates.

I joined the Albs, their base apparently was on siege. Skyands, Droids standing in hordes right next to the base, right next to the guards, but NOTHING HAPPENS, ZERO, NILL. You are the little boy running around the base and killing them solo. What is the point of any faction then? This did my head in.

Combat is another game-breaking thing. In games like Gothic you were actually scared of stronger enemies and had this satisfaction when you grew stronger to defeat them, here you just take the crappiest bow, buy many arrows and can just backtrack all day long when someone is running towards you and kill them. I killed a troll right off the start. No close combat enemy can hit you when you just walk backwards, when they swing their weapon they stop for a second. Wow.

You can actually do that by just skipping the dialogs (only read the subtitles), this saves a ton of time. And no, this doesn't destroy the game experience or anything.

Imagine doing that and then complain about "bad written dialogues" or "not RP" though.

I actually agree with most points you made, OP. Except the combat. Indeed, the game is easier but also because combat and controls are a lot more solid. Also i have to wonder like Tekay how you completed all main and side quests in just 25 hours. Even if you skip all conversations i don't see that happening. Maybe just the main story and a few side quests.

You don't have to hear the dialogs to judge if they are "bad written" or not. Same with "RP".

I share some parts of the OP`s view but how can you leave out the atrocious sound design and soundtrack in your criticism? That and the later main story missions (or lack of) make this one of my less favourite PB games. Exploration and roleplaying in the middle part are still good though.

I would have to load an old save now, or start again, just for the Chests and Romance Achievment. 49 hours, some of them afk and I've done all the quests, seen everything and agree with many of the points in the OP's negative review.
For me, this isn't a *troll post* yet just someone putting his disappointment into words.
I also expected more for a 50€ game in 2022, something more lively, prettier, with depth.

Should there ever be a DLC I'll take care of the 2 missing Achievments, otherwise I have the game *finished* now and put it in the archive. Unfortunately no replay value.

Pretty much agree with everything you said about the game. I won't be buying any games in the future from this company ever again. There's absolutely nothing redeeming about the game at all. Even if there was something redeeming, it is completely overshadowed by all the poor choices the developer implemented throughout the game from top to bottom. Thank you for your honest review.
