Mountain troll defeated at level 3.
So i was doing a mission for the bastion, i came across a cave near a river with a mountain troll.

You do not want to get hit once i bet, hit right after it has used its attack and only once or twice and then roll out, dodge is not safe since it can still hit you i think. You always want to wait till it has attacked and never hit more than twice so you have stamina enough for a roll.

It took a long time but i ended up with 500xp and a mountain troll heart, whatever that is used for. That thing was a tank.

It had several mechanics, Stomp, when it raise its hands or foot you need to be somewhere else, it sends out an earthquake, it twist its body and swings it at you, i'm pretty sure all the attacks are lethal if you get hit by it.

No save scumming, i don't save scum in games as this makes challenges pointless. I really like how the combat in Elex 2 is based on your effort and does not limit you in that way, this makes it possible to take down higher level monsters if you spend enough time on it.

The mountain troll heart is needed to craft potions of constitution which give permanent +1 constitution. What surprises me is that you don't need the Animal Trophy ability to get it. I assumed you need rank 3 to get these hearts and I avoided killing the bigger enemies like trolls, cyclops and behemoths until I have all ranks in the ability.
In Elex it depends what you decide to "skill" first , as items don't have any level req. it is easy to skill your char to be OP very fast, when you only choose attributes and skills for a special weapon !

I have leveled in Elex first diplomatic and survival skills and had long a hard time at battles, now it was very short that hard time :steamhappy: as I decided to go as fast as possible for shotguns :steammocking:

Guess it took more time than killing a few weaker mobs for that 500exp) But i get the challenge. Did you know that you can parry his swing attack and do a critical hit? Like in DS

I did roughly the same and can confirm you don't need Animal Trophy to get the heart.

And you didnt tried once to kill one and see what you can get, then reload?

No, that is considered save scumming. i already had plenty of other targets to practice on beforehand.

You can't really fail if you do what i said, wait till it use its attack then move in and attack twice and roll out.

The Stomp is easy to avoid, the worst is the swing. This trick does not work on anything that's faster than a mountain troll of course.

I die all the time to other 3 skull mobs because it's random, a ranged weapon would be much easier to kill things with.

I dont think you can save scum in elex two unless theyre not targeting you. If theyre on aggroo to you you cant save. Most the time the saves break and start them at full hp anyways lol. But usually you can save scum when theyre targeting your follower and not you. Since youre not in combat at that point I think.

But yeah I like elex as the challenge is hard but fair.

The big fellows are quite easy. After playing 50 levels in elden ring fighting Elex 2 enemies feels like Neo when he finally "got it" what the Matrix really is and just yawns at Agent Smith.

Getting swarmed is still a challenge though - as you can't see which enemy is starting a charge at you (and charging they do a lot).

I did this with Falk lvl 3-11 it still works it does sometimes reset enemy hp but i always had a quicksave where the reset didn't happen so i loaded that when it happened :claugh:

Yeah I know it works when you are not taking agro XD
they almost got it right though making it so you cant save during combat. But they always mess something up at the end of the day :^)

Is it really save scumming to kill a troll and see what it drops without the hunting perk, then reload and comeback later with the perk? Not about saving and reloading till you win and i was talking to Tommy.

I haven't tried it as I was planning to invest into Animal trophies anyway. In addition to the heart a troll drops a lot of other trophies which are worth a few hundred elexit. At the moment all the animal trophies and pickpocketing/repairing weapons give me enough money to buy thousands of Elex for crafting medium and large Elex potions and buying enough Dark Elex to craft potions from all the looted hearts. So I don't regret waiting with killing most stuff until I had Animal trophies ability on rank 3. I didn't had a reason to get the hearts early on anyway as you need the Chemistry ability on rank 3 to actually do anything with them.

just use a gun and press dodge when rock throw comes at you they easy.

(or use a shotgun which is op gun that can take anything out no issue or explosives to stagger lock him etc...)
No hunting skill is required to get those hearts.

I think the big mobs are easier than the low lvl ones lol. They are just so damn slow. You can die in one swing yea but i can drink a coffee when i fight those. Different story is when there are 2 or 3 of them in melee, but one? easy peasy.
