From what I played the campaign is very easy, I haven't reached this guy yet since I'm saving myself for 1.0, but sounds like the game should ramp up the challenge earlier to prepare for it better.
I skipped past it to finish other monoliths with ease (some bosses killed me once but after I prepared with adequate resist it was easy) I can probably go back and kill it now that I am level 85 and have slightly better gear.
Now the real question to me is, is Lagon too hard or are all the other bosses too easy ? I don't know how difficult the bosses are at level 100 so I'll reserve my judgement until then.
But honestly I find it refreshing that bosses can actually kill you in 2 or 3 hits even with proper gear. It's giving me D3 vanilla inferno difficulty vs Diablo vibes, it's not just a DPS check it's an actual skill check.
The rest of the game is typical arpg which is walking simulator + big number simulator but essentially 0 challenge once you're geared up, the game plays itself the fun is in the building. Having proper gamePLAY against some bosses is good.
tl:dr Lagon is hard but not too hard, other bosses are too easy
Before him you can get through the game with 0 resists
Without them, most players will likely repeatedly get 1 shot by him
It's an annoying fight with very easy 'you die here' mechanics attached to it if you don't know the fight perfectly
You need phys + water/ice(been a while since i played forgot which is in game) resists and hp regen to survive the fight
Also keep an eye on his head for clues on what his next attack will be and were this helps you dodge the nasties.
Lastly try using a movement skill if you have trouble moving out of the damage zones.
Can an experienced player build to overcome Lagon using numbers in the story? yes, but can a new player? unlikely both due to lacking the "proper" gear, and the knowledge to build in such a way. Attempting to overcome problems with numbers will lead to a poor outcome, Lagon is the first real introduction to the balance by one-shot design that continues for the rest of the game.
Can you sidestep this problem by going to monoliths early? absolutely. You can also do it again with monolith Lagon and sidestep that route? absolutely.
A player is better served by embracing the one-shot balance and learning to move out of the way of the bad.
really is a battle that i think stopping the game. It was fun just before this fight.
You also have to kill him two more times, once in regular monoliths to clear them and once again in empowered monoliths for the greater blessing (and he has some pretty good blessings for player power), so you had better learn the fight!
however once you reach some of the end bosses you wont be able to kill them in 5 seconds and will actually have to tank hits and do mechanics.
I started the game a few days ago, and every bosses was easy AF until I arrived at Lagon (architect was a bit tough too, especially the fact that he's fighting you outside of the screen), and now i'm just stuck there because it OS me with only one attack (with almost one attack every 1-2 seconds and sometimes they just fill the entire battlefield) and I clearly do not have enough DPS too... Also If you keep moving to dodge every attack you cant dps too.
So I guess I'll have to farm a specific stuff with some resistance but its just a huge difficulty peak that appears out of nowhere. It's not really an issue but I juste wanted to end the story before farming for specific stuff, because I feel what I'll farm for lagon will just be useless after that.
