i see dog and i say it's a dog.
only PoE has a true crafting system since you can take a statless armor and make it beefy.
like i said ... you have to depend on god rolls on gear b4 you upgrade it.
I also consider D4 an upgrade system since you aren't making anything but changing stats around ... same with LE ... you aren't taking something from 0 and making it 100 ... aka limiting .. so you can make 0 to 20 if you're lucky, but thats as far as you go
in LE you only pay real money for the game and for skins/effects.
LE has an more Fun Late Game
Only thing D4 is better in is the Story and maybe the Graphics
Brother, Diablo 4 isn't targeted at the legacy ARPG audience. They're targeted to a "broad" audience. It's hard to explain, but D4 feels soulless. Plus the price point for D4 is absolutely ridiculous, on top of that it has a battlepass and multiple MTX slop. It feels wrong and dirty.
Last Epoch is actually made by ARPG fans, and not corpo suits. I'd say if you've played D2, PoE and Grim Dawn, you're the audience for Last Epoch. If you enjoyed D3 and D4, this game isn't really marketed to you.
Other than that LE is better at everything except the above.
LE is like PoE ... or like a linear game that has a lot of load screens when transitioning to another part of a map.
D4 gameplay wise is sort of dull and pigeon holes you to one build, but if you are just going for story and experience ... D4 would be your better choice ... not the price though
LE also offer a chrono trigger inspired story campaign, but the tech for this game is old.
to be honest ... LE offers a a 1 fps map with nodes representing location and transitions, D4's map is a lot bigger and more open.
end game is preference and opinion and doesn't matter. It's what you like. Google end game for each game and you'll find videos to fit your fancy.
Class in LE seems to be more balanced and varied compare to D4.
D4 i can't play other classes and have fun, but LE I played 2 classes only and enjoyed them both. Can't wait to try other class and sub classes to see if I actually enjoy them too.
D4 class for me is like night and day ... one class i'll enjoy and then the next one will feel like a chore.
if you want an answer then i say get LE for price, but D4 will give the better experience story and world wise.
Not saying LE is bad, Just saying D4 is better for the experience, but LE still offers a good story experience.
D4 endgame for me is just trash ... I haven't done much of LE endgame, but i have no doubt that it's just another grind, but at least i can do it with more than one class and find it enjoyable.
D4 deosn't punish you for skill respec and LE sorta slaps your hand for skill respec and gets annoying cause you lose a level and have to grind the exp back again. Still better than PoE by a millenia.
I do not mean leveling respec, i mean skills you use to unalive things like fireball.
If you want to pick game to play it once, D4 can be a contender; if you want to focus on endgame grind, D4 is no-go, avoid it!
D4 was truly boring and generic combat. Story good, the rest was whatever. I played tons of D2 and D3, couldn't get into D4 at all.
not sure if you still have time, but it no for a pre-release little cosmetic pet :P
Ignore this guy lol
Now speaking of the endgame, it might not have as much depth as any other competitors. It might get tedious to run nightmare dungeons and collect crafting materials in helltides. But then again all ARPGs have repetition at the core and you just play these games for the sake of slaying monsters over and over again. Running same maps either those would be nightmare dungeons, atlas maps, greater rifts or shattered realms. However D4 would definitely benefit from more maps, various modifiers, monster and boss variety. Hopefully devs will broaden it with feature updates.
As for itemization, it definitely feels rough and becomes tedious checking stats on each item. And this is where LE excels - crafting system and the process of rolling affixes on the item is really good in LE. Also loot filters in LE will be a big plus comparing to D4.
I played LE beta and somewhat liked it. Really interesting to see every skill having its own tree, similar to combining gems in PoE or stacking skill modifiers in Wolcen, but even more straightforward and coherent actually. Each class having an option to pick one of the three subclasses to further specialize in some specific class mechanics and types of damage. Reminded me of Grim Dawn, only in Grim Dawn you can combine any of two classes (ex. soldier with necro or shaman with pyromancer).
Overall I am looking forward to 1.0 for LE. I feel like each game has their own strengths and weaknesses and don’t see any reasons for them not to be able to coexist with one another.
