We all know that this game is extremely unbalanced, so you don't need to brag about damage... but not everyone is such a newbie and plays brainless copy paste meta.
The shields are just annoying, even if you do a lot of damage it's like an unwanted mod that an enemy has on it every few meters.
Yes it's the new ward mechanic for bosses. Which replaced adaptive damage reduction bosses had
1) Replace shield with health? What is the different, if you going to deal the same damage but in red (HP)
2) Remove shield completely so you can one shot the boss, better ask DEV to nerf all boss by 90% HP, so you all dXXbfxxk can erase everything
so....?
Your 2) shows that you don't want to argue in good faith, so it's whatever.
But we want none of this garbage. No ward, no DDR, nothing.
Why is it a problem if some builds can kill bosses in seconds in a fully PvE game?
If some builds are 'problematic' because they 'trivialize' the game, why is the solution not to buff the other builds so they may compete better with what's already meta?
This is an ARPG built on power fantasy. What's the point of nerfing player damage? It literally goes against the design of that kind of game.
I say this with no offense intended but what kind of game do you think LE is?
The developers are not silly, and when people make decisions that do not seem to align I find that if you shift your goals until they do you can extrapolate the reason behind it.
In short you are thinking of LE as if its a game, and that is true, but more accurately it is a "live service game" its a small but important difference.
"live service games" especially those intended to run entirely on micro-transactions have different goals. As the science behind sales and how to drive them is pretty settled, and run almost entirely on the metric of player engagement and not necessarily player enjoyment.
There is a lovely youtube video titled: lets go whaling that is quite elucidating.
