I don't like that Cycles will banish my characters to the shadow realm
This cycles feature discouraged me from even making a new character today. Why do they do this? It takes 30-75 hours to get a character to 100, and far more to push monoliths and incrementally improve gear. Last Epoch has an extremely grindy end game. Why does it need to be the case that in 2-3 months the many hours I have into my characters has to be vaporized? It really seems to me to be a complete disrepsect for my time in favor of like 5 dudes who want to speedrun the game while the servers are on fire at the start of each cycle.

Sounds like you prefer MMo's, this is how ARGPS work nowadays mate
Also you will still be able to play that character of yours, so I don't see the problem

You are unable to see the problem with 100+ hours of gameplay being sent to some second class realm? Okay bro, every year 3 months wipe all save progress for all games you own on steam.
AFAIK, a new cycle does not mean a previous cycle's character is locked out of new content. You can still experience the new items, etc, but you won't be able to compete on the new cycle's leader boards. The cycle mechanic is intended as a fresh starting point for all people competing on the leader boards.

"I don't like that a game mode that I am not forced to play works as it does in all arpgs and does not do what I claim it does"
Okay then...

I can't even grasp how you thought this was a good response.

His points:
-You can keep playing your character, nothing is deleted
You didn't refute this, and instead doubled down on your false claim of "save progress" being "wiped"
-This is how ARPGs do things, as opposed to something like an MMO
You didn't refute or acknowledge this, instead you made a false equivalence of "all your games on Steam" when he specifically singled out ARPGs.

Are you points farming?

Well it comes down to how they utelize it, for example in PoE they have a new Mechanic and 40 Challenges per League so of course you have to do a new Character for it, because otherwise it would be way to easy to clear them.

If you don't like whatever they will come up with in the future just play legacy, lots of people do, neither is better it's just preference.

How many players seriously care about the leaderboards ? Did they develop the game for speedrun.com ? I don't see why a character needs to be obliterated for this, when they can just reset the leaderboard without doing that.

LMAO, Cycle characters at the end of a cycle turn to legacy.

Where ever the OP got their information from was false.

You keep ignoring everyone telling you that your character isn't deleted. You keep everything. You just don't get access to the next cycles Leaderboards. What is the issue?

They want their own soapbox to stand on. They ignore all cause their rant would be irrelevant.

This is the whole point of seasons. Also, having characters on the main realm can help when it comes time to theory craft league starters or experiment with new builds for an upcoming league. As you play more, you will eventually have a small arsenal of items to tinker with in the downtime between cycles or try new builds to see if they are endgame viable for the new cycle.

I'm amused at the optimism you guys have toward the Legacy server. I will obviously try it when my character is banished, but I have no such optimism. I expect that despite the fact that very few players care about competitive leaderboard that everyone will be stuck playing cycle for the new content or whatever. Let's see though.
