Here's how I solved the difficulty problem. By playing in HC. Once you starting playing in this league the difficulty is instantly perfect. The only problem is that everyone in the game is a judgement paladin.
100% of the player base must engage with the campaign prior to corruption. Thats without exception. The campaign is what all new players are required to interact with and its utterly, and completely trash. So telling new players to tolerate abysmal boredom for hours until they reach corruption is correct but creates a horrible impression. Nobody is complaining that 700 corruption is too easy, its just that the journey to that point is F tier.
My problem with that is that you have to get to this point first. There is no reason why the game cant be a little bit more challenging straight away. Last time I didnt manage because I got bored of running maps with zero challenge and how many maps I had to do to get to the challenging part is not communicated to the player.
I will give the game an another shot now and try to get there as soon as possible and skip most of the content until then. And I will try to use the most niche ability, I guess. Still, I would have loved if the game simply had a Veteran difficulty you could choose straight away like Grim Dawn.
It's not interesting to farm gear for my build over multiple weeks in order to face tank that boss - so I am done with the season already as there is nothing else to explore.
I'd much rather prefer more fights like normal Aberroth, which you can do with pretty much every build, rather than investing into endless defences for a fight in which you cannot properly dodge all mechanics.
I think that is the games current only weakness, it lacks interesting endgame bossfights that are not gated behind sheer gear, but around understanding and learning its' mechanics.
Playing PoE1 for the first time many players wont even get to the end of the campaign. In terms of difficulty, playing LE for the first time is the same difficulty like the PoE campaign after 500 hours. And that after all the powercreep PoE had... I remember playing back when acts 4-6 came out in PoE1 and even getting to maps was not easy.
PoE1 gets easy when you know how systems work and know how to build a character. LE is easy from the get go, even when you know nothing about the game.
