unplayable on linux since season 2
got the game a little before season 2 came out. Game was running smooth at 60 or more fps. now after a couple areas the performance starts to drop like crazy (under 30fps), and that's when it doesn't just start right off the bat at 15fps.

has anyone found a fix?

If the performance drops after about 20-30min and when moving the mouse or on key input it's a Steam bug. The workaround is adding LD_PRELOAD="" %command% to startup options.

thanks, I'll try that right away!
yeah doesn't help. though i discovered that sometimes when I get in a new zone and the frames drop, I just get back to the previous zone, and enter again (might take a couple tries) and then the frames are back to normal. But I will still get massive fps drop that stay unless I restart the game eventually.

I can run this smooth AF on an LCD Steamdeck

Proton experimental, AA off, play with settings

I've been unable to play at all since Season 2 launch - I get a lock-up on game start, and have to force quit.

same problem, but only after 1-2 hours. Only relaunching the game helps

I have run EndeavourOS (Arch based) for 2 years and I have never had any issues in any of my games.

Mint?
Ubuntu (which is what Mint is) uses ancient drivers and Linux kernels. it's probably a year behind EndeavourOS

just use what Valve, i.e. Steam uses itself for the Steam Deck, or the closest thing: an Arch based Linux that's focused on gaming. i.e. EndeavourOS.

I have played 20h in the new league or whatever they wanna call 1.2 and I have the same level of performance as last year at launch. no issues, crashes or frame choppiness or anything

yup, I had no issues prior to this update. I am on Arch too. The game is actually unplayable late game.

I'm not geek enough to change my OS again. Was complicated enough getting rid of windows and getting mint set up and running how I like. Mint saved a laptop I was using from going to the trash, years ago, so that's the OS I gravitate toward. maybe someday I'll do a reset/cleanup of my PC, or If I ever find affordable deals on upgrades and build a new station, and i'll check up Endeavour.
Playing on Arch Linux with Proton GE 9.27 - working pretty well. It has some FPS drops though to like 30ish with lots of density, but I guess thats not a Linux thing. In general the game has performance issues, but thats mostly because of Unity.

But It should run on Mint as well. Very little has to do with the distribution actually. Its mostly something else off.

Most of the time I have 70-90FPS

I'm on cachyos doing 175 fps, zero issues, runs better than windows does by almost 2x. I just played for about 10-12 hours non stop, zero issues, solid the entire time.

7900xtx with a 9950x.

Using debian myself and Proton Experimental.

I've got the bleeding edge enabled for it as well.

I notice sometimes the game has trouble launching, however, shutting down steam and relaunching usually fixes it.

I haven't had any other major problems outside of that.

I've had the same issue. Game ran fine at first, then randomly after a few areas would drop to stuttering 30-40fps, then soon after it would drop even lower and start rubberbanding on top.

Tried a few things on my own and a fw I've seen people mention, including the LD_PRELOAD thing. What ultimately fixed it for me was switching to GE-Proton8-27, which someone mentioned on Reddit. Thought it was a typo at first cause the latest is 9-27, but tried it anyway, and 8-27 works like a charm.
I got different issues. Closed the game with alt F4, now want to start it again and nothing happens. 2 cores constantly on 100% for minutes but that's it.
