Proton experimental, AA off, play with settings
Mint?
Ubuntu (which is what Mint is) uses ancient drivers and Linux kernels. it's probably a year behind EndeavourOS
just use what Valve, i.e. Steam uses itself for the Steam Deck, or the closest thing: an Arch based Linux that's focused on gaming. i.e. EndeavourOS.
I have played 20h in the new league or whatever they wanna call 1.2 and I have the same level of performance as last year at launch. no issues, crashes or frame choppiness or anything
I'm not geek enough to change my OS again. Was complicated enough getting rid of windows and getting mint set up and running how I like. Mint saved a laptop I was using from going to the trash, years ago, so that's the OS I gravitate toward. maybe someday I'll do a reset/cleanup of my PC, or If I ever find affordable deals on upgrades and build a new station, and i'll check up Endeavour.
But It should run on Mint as well. Very little has to do with the distribution actually. Its mostly something else off.
Most of the time I have 70-90FPS
7900xtx with a 9950x.
I've got the bleeding edge enabled for it as well.
I notice sometimes the game has trouble launching, however, shutting down steam and relaunching usually fixes it.
I haven't had any other major problems outside of that.
Tried a few things on my own and a fw I've seen people mention, including the LD_PRELOAD thing. What ultimately fixed it for me was switching to GE-Proton8-27, which someone mentioned on Reddit. Thought it was a typo at first cause the latest is 9-27, but tried it anyway, and 8-27 works like a charm.
