Hi, as a human with more than 2 brain cells, maybe I can help!

Grim Dawn is a popular ARPG that rarely gets updates and isn't live service. Last Epoch is a popular live service ARPG that hasn't had an update for a while, and people don't want to get burnt out before the large upcoming announced update in less than 4 weeks. Furthermore, it's been around almost as long as Grim Dawn in early access.

Hope that helps! ^^

"people" will tell you that its due to lack of new content, what that means is all of the years of EA, and all of the content post EA can only hold the attention of the players for a small amount of time.

Or as someone else put it, imagine loosing the live service audience capture race to an older game that is not even trying.
I imagine that it's a picture of either Steamdb or Steamcharts showing low player numbers for this game, and maybe high for another hack 'n slash, right? I don't click in unknown links, but I want to know if I'm right given the above answers.

Ding ding ding!
Grim Dawn's player numbers are so low right now because there hasn't been a major update in several months and people are waiting on the new expansion coming out "soon."

Exact, I love GD, but I prefer LE and I wait April 2nd.
We're all very sorry master that we didn't play the 5 month old event that added loot lizards and new shrines long enough. Also that we aren't making this game our life.
We'll do better master.

Simple. People are waiting for Season 2 to play it. But, if you want more details :

LE relies on a live-service model with microtransactions, whereas GD is a simple B2P with expansions.
LE in its current state is unfinished.
Since the release of 1.1 in July of last year, there hasn't been any meaningful content released.
The reset of Cycle 1 which was done for no reason and which coincided with the monthly event only brought new shrines and loot goblins I mean lizards.
The next big update for LE will only come out in early April of this year.

Grim Dawn has a complete story with an endgame while LE does not. The current story ends unsatisfyingly and leads you to the most humdrum of all possible endgames: endless waves of trash mobs in disconnected, randomly generated dungeons.

Grim Dawn don't have a real looting system, there is NO farming and grinding at all. I love GD, but I hate all the items system
it went on sale for $2.50 so people who never tried it finally played it
