Dungeon transitions are eating keys
Why does this game insist on losing connection to the server when moving to the next floor in Temporal Sanctum? I log back in to find my key has been eaten for nothing.

This is without mentioning the shrines in there that open a portal to the end just straight up do nothing, no portal spawns.

What backwards design to front load the key consumption. Why wasn't it designed to consume your key after you have combined your two items at the end?

Now I can't even get in the front door, when I go to the Temporal Sanctum waypoint I am greeted with a severe frame rate drop and a door that can't be interacted with, shortly after I am sent back to the main menu with a connection error again.

Ridiculous.

Are we to assume that your servers whilst already in an abominable state have been further downgraded due to the assumed lower player count thanks to Diablo 4's expansion release today?

you're in the UK so you're using EU West? It's not the problem of the server. that's for sure.

No, this is white knighting and an excuse. No other games that I have played within the last few weeks in any way have the same connection issues. There are numerous people in this community posting about the same problems with server disconnects. They are also stating that their other games do not have the same problem. It is entirely on the side of Eleventh Hour Games. Playing on EU West does not make people safe from this issue.

I don't think you know what white knighting means and "numerous people"> no. a small handful is not what I would call numerous.

There is a campaign of misinformation and hatred toward EHG and Last Epoch. Why? I don't really know. this tribalism of wanting a game to fail that isn't the one you like is stupid and you're clearly being a part of that.

"What is the meaning of white knighting?"

"Into the 2010s, the slang white knight further evolved to refer to a person who makes a post or comment in defense of someone else online—as if they are rushing to save them from criticism."

You rush in and claim there is no problem without ever being able to confirm or deny it in reality since you don't work for Eleventh Hour Games.

I think its strange how often people try and blame X, Y, and Z only to do a bit of googlefu and find many instances of EHG admitting there are problems with "insert topic in question". In this case servers and keys.

True, and yet.

"When did Last Epoch fully release?"

"In October 2023, it was announced that the full game would launch on February 21, 2024. On February 21, 2024 the game was finally released to the public in three editions"

You'd expect these kind of server instability issues on and shortly after release, not 8 months later.

Editing your post later to add unrelated crap to the original issue is laughable, I have nothing to do with any misinformation or hatred spreading. There is clear and visible server instability issues for people both on the discussions board and in-game through the global chat claiming about lag spikes and disconnects. This is not misinformation. I do not want this game to fail, nor do I think it is failing, from a game standpoint. It is however, failing on server stability, a grand 8 months post launch. And that's ignoring the early access period.

Remember back during the 1.0 launch debacle? judd was over on reddit boasting about how flawless the launch would go thanks to the ability to "spin up" as many servers as needed. Or how the current reason why maps have no permanence is due to server cost.

Temper your expectations, is all I am trying to say. Its still a "small" "indy" studio trying desperately to stay one lesson ahead of the student.

I guess? It's simply highly annoying to see these stability issues so very far into its life cycle. You'd think by this far along even a small company of 50 people would be able to accurately gauge the requirements for their online service to run smoothly.

Well over 100 and Tencent backing no less. According to judd there is no limit to the number of servers they can "spin up", its just a shame they are from wish.

Agreed on that, didn't know they were 100 strong with big money backing at this point either.

you might notice that the edit was finalised less than 5 mins after it's initial posting. Consider the possibility that after that first line I thought of more things to say and didn't want to clog the thread by doubleposting and more replies came onto the thread while I was in the middle of the edit.

Right, so you're not denying that you're trying to dismiss my original criticism of EHG's handling of server stability by idealistically labelling me as part of some sort of generalised group of haters apparently specifically targeting this company for a reason that I would agree with you is completely ridiculous should it actually exist.

Over a year ago according to* reddit EHG was "nearly 100 team members" and Tencent got involved in March of 22.

Edit*: judd on

The shoe fits doesn't it? And it's more than a little hypocritical to complain about me judging you so shallowly when you accuse me of being a white knight. You could say "the lady doth protest too much"
