Cannot interact with keeper Balthas in town after freeing him from the cage!
Title. It makes progress impossible. Never happened before!

Same here and I tried all the old tricks to get it to work, but nothing.

Same just did it and now me and my entire party are stuck in that quest!

Try verifying your game file then running back through the previous quest steps 'on foot' - Waypoint to the Ospryx Camp, fight through, beat the Summit fight, use the Waypoint past Balthas to head back to the Keepers Camp

same for me too, I've just done the quest-line again for him but it's still bugged.

They patched it, it is working now!

Seems they reverted their earlier patch: it now says 1.1.4 on the main screen, instead of 1.1.5.
