Couldnt speak to this as the last time I played I didnt try them just finished campaign.
I do wish exp came faster though, with folks getting PLs and leeching, it seems a little ridiculous the grind to even 90 is so slow running monos even at 100. It could be worse, but I think making faster ways to gain levels would be helpful in encouraging people to try different builds and classes
This is a great take. I hadn't considered them to be a small time investment for busy days that's a great idea; and I agree, the curve to xp gain really falls off after a certain point. My main issue with the game after campaign is a lack of direction, im not great at setting goals in video games and sticking to them, so getting to empowered monos are even to the highest levels just seem like a drag to me. I enjoy the loot hunt but not enough to properly engage with the systems like monos and dungeons at the late stages of the game. Its a shame cause I really enjoy speed running through the campaign with whatever the strongest build I can come up with is.
I dont think this is ultimately last epochs fault, more so my personal issues interacting with the game. Was just curious to hear what others felt about the system.
That's totally fair and I tend to agree, the only reason I think I've been able to engage with it is that I watched a bunch of build videos on YouTube that kindof inspired me to move forward and gave me some goals to set. Seeing what some of the builds can do vs high corruption bosses is really interesting and some of the classes (Falconer for me) are really unique and fun to engage with. I really enjoy the Arena also, although I wish access was a bit less constrained, I understand the need to keep it limited to avoid it being abused for XP.
Had I not paid attention to the build videos, I'd probably feel a bit aimless myself, but I think they've also done a good job of adding low commitment content and that's nice sometimes. The more of these videos I watched, the more interested I became in investing time into the game.
As I said before though I do wish there was an easier way to build classes out for experimentation purposes or to try new things. As it seems now most builds I've tried only seem really viable at lvl75+ and getting there is kindof slow, although I do like that most skill related development sortof caps off once skills are maxed around lvl70, so unlike D2 you don't have skills still receiving updates up to lvl100. OTOH it makes going from 75-100 feel a bit draggier because character improvements are a bit more subtle.
