For that to answer and have informed opinions on that matter PoE 2 needs to drop first and LE has to have a bunch of past 1.0 cycles so we can drawn comparisons and see the trajectory of LE's (longterm) well being.
It's too early now to ask this question with PoE 2 in mind. Maybe in a year from now at the earliest when all missing major features ,that where originally expected for 1.0, are implemented and the online mode has improved.
Things that need to change (imo) to make the game survive longterm:
The development pace needs to ramp up and bad game ideas/bugs need to be fixed faster so this game does not get into maintenance mode within the next 2 years after the revenue has dried up (less players playing & buying cosmetic MTX).
Edit: I should probably mention that, I basically put the brakes on this game since I was underwhelmed with the beta. I recently came back on a whim, and I think it's cool how things are shaping up. I just have the feeling that in the beginning and now, for the most part, it was an inexperienced team that took on something that was hard to handle. I don't know the last part as a fact, but it'd go a long way in explaining why things went the way they did.
...
PSA: Ignore 'concern trolls'.
everyone's a troll hu? for instance you're profile pic! i guess it would have sounded better if i said I'm concerned were im investing my time!
Yes it will survive, because it does offer offline mode and any offline game will survive for as long as you can purchase a game. Beautiful thing about GOG are the amount of games from the 90's and early 2000's that you can still play.
No it won't, because it was a mistake to even try to compete with Diablo or POE. Any game that eventually gets the "x killer" (Diablo/PoE killer) tends to fail miserably.
