Memory Leak
Hello, I'm sure you guys are working on the cycle content, but I thought it should be noted that Steamdeck users and linux users continue to have a memory leak issue.

If I run the game under native, the memory leak does not impact VRAM, but does still impact system memory. If I run proton, any version, it impacts both VRAM and System RAM. My gaming PC can handle the memory leak for a long time and isnt impacted too much. The Steamdeck experiences freezing as it loads new information because it's thrashing Virtual memory.

I know you guys are busy, but please address this as soon as possible. The issue likely still impacts certain windows installations too.

Wanted to add that I seen 7-12GB VRAM (Even on lowest settings) usage and 12-20GB of System memory usage under proton. Both seems to double the actual memory required. If I load native I see 2.5-4GB Vram and 12-20GB of System Memory usage. Steamdeck is constantly using 20+ GB of combined memory usage (which is beyond the 16GB of physical RAM it has available). This is on lowest possible settings, even at 640x480 resolution. So, changing settings has zero impact.

For those who don't remember, windows had this issue back in march, so whatever the issue is, it still exists under the hood of the game code. It needs another pass and is likely impacting windows users still.

Is there no way around this without cryoutilities?

Does cryoutilities solve this issue? So far, I've tried a million things on steamdeck (OLED) and the memory leak eventually makes the experience poor. It performs well at 9w APU at like 45FPS with occassional dips to 35. Just have to deal with freezes/pauses as the system swaps memory/SSD info.

They dont care about the game, becouse this is not anymore that makes money, they care about selling you skins now. So better start have problems with skins.

It seems like Steam forces proton 9.02 if you don't select a compatibility option. So, on SD there doesn't appear to be a way to play it natively on linux (even though the game supports linux).

Edit: Probably have to launch from desktop mode.

Nah, I bet they will get to it eventually.

I just got the game and noticed this. Playing for like an hour or less maxed out my 16GB ram and also 2GB swap. My PC was so slow I was getting like 1 frame every 5 seconds. That shouldn't be happening.

Please devs, fix the memory leak.

Are you playing in windows or linux? This was a rampant issue for windows users back in March. My guess is the problem still isn't entirely fixed.

Linux. The OP mentioned Steamdeck and Linux. I'm not using a Steamdeck but am using Linux.

On Steamdeck, it seems like if I force the Linux runtime in the compatibility options, the game runs below 16GB of RAM which is a better experience. However, there are numerous bugs such as minimap not showing walls, Filters not working properly, and a few other small things.

I'd still recommenced the linux runtime, over proton for this game as RAM usage is still really high on the lowest settings using proton.
Yeah still a problem. Using GE-Proton 9-27. Latest Nobara and Nvidia drivers.
