New Season Confirmed
In game, it says 'cycles' (seasons) come every 3-4 months, but it was unclear when the first one after launch would be. In a recent livestream on Twitch, the dev confirmed that the first one would be 3-4 months after launch.

That's the reason to roll a new char, so you get to do all the season stuff.

If they reset all my chars just to add normal, permanent content that should just be a patch, i might be done.

I have quoted this in the past but here ya go.

"at least for the first like probably couple of years or so…I guess, that dynamic of will it get rolled into standard?" mike when asking about cycles going core.

"The current plan for the first initial set of cycles that happen is to have them be immediately rolled out to everyone and automatically rolled into everything. This is because a lot of the initial mechanics that we introduce through cycles are things that, given a magic wand, we would just include with 1.0" mike again

"We’re not yet ready to talk too in depth about cycles, and what entirely a cycle contains beyond that it would be a fresh start for characters, and leaderboards, with existing characters from prior to the cycle being moved to legacy." kain over on discord.

The plan still seams to be EA 2.0.

I have heard them say this is the first cycle.

Yeah. I guess it doesn't matter much whether it's the first or not. With Diablo 4, 'season 1' was launched around 5-6 weeks after launch.

With Lost Epoch, idk how much seasonal content there is. Exiled Mages are the main thing I notice that's new. Obviously, factions are new, but that's just an addition to the core game rather than seasonal.

The one unique thing about seasons in LE is how the economy for Merchant's guild is going to change since I'm assuming everything currently up for auction will be gone (or in whatever the eternal/standard realm is called).

Unless things have changed since the 1.0 launch the developer mike said it best, it could be years until seasonal content.

In a recent livestream, he said the next cycle would be 3-4 months after release. Here's the VOD if anyone is interested: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2111740390

I don't see the point of having another cycle if there isn't going to be new content, but I guess it could just be adding more core content to the game. I guess in that case it wouldn't be "seasonal content".

Most up to date info I am aware of is when mike spoke about "Seasonal Content" he said it could be years.

New content =/= seasonal content.

He said new cycle in the stream. What's the point of a new cycle if there isn't seasonal content? Why make a "new cycle" if it's just to add new content. Just an excuse to reset everything?

Marketing? New Supporter packs? I know the packs were set to leave the store with each season. EA 2.0 Electric Boogaloo.

The whole idea behind seasonal content is kind of ♥♥♥♥♥. Forcing people to start over to make full use of new content is a gimmick to draw out the longevity of a game.

Why not just add content gradually without some kind of manufactured replayability mechanism.

I play a lot of alts so I generally don't mind starting over. I didn't like how Diablo 4 started the first season 6 weeks after launch. I was in a middle of a bunch of playthroughs and didn't like having to end them so soon.

I do sort of agree that starting over doesn't seem like it should be necessary, but at the same time I wonder if people would find it as appealing. Some people would prefer to retain all their progress, but idk if that's the majority.

There is no seasonal content since they havent finished base features of the game yet. Once they are finished with their vision of base content for the game.. they will release seasonal content.

The point of having cycles if there is no seasonal content ? Who knows. Reset of the broken economy.. leaderboards... many reasons most people probably don't care about.

Fact is. They arent particulary fast and good with providing actual content to the game.. hence it takes very long.

What we know is that the next cycle will introduce a pinnacle boss system.

They can/will release the seasonal/cycle content without finishing the story. They already said that the focus of the next cycle will be pinacle content.

If you expect them to finish the story or to fix the insane amounts of bugs then don't get your hopes up.

Yup, there are some bugs that have been in the game for YEARS... while I like the game and had high hopes for it, reality is that it is highly unlikely the game will ever be finished.

Pinnacle content is not seasonal content.
New content is not seasonal content.
Seasonal content is seasonal content.

Just because the content comes in a "cycle" does not make it seasonal.
