Damage calculations
I kinda need someone to help me out with this, as i am waaaay off with my own numbers compared to what the training dummy shows me. I know how damage in general works (added * all increased * multiplied1 * multiplied2 * etc) but simply can't figure a single skills damage out correctly. Let's take the easiest example of this:

In Game
I apply 7 poison stacks to the training dummy. The dummy shows me ~165 damage each second.

In Calculations
I apply 7 poison stacks. Each stack deals 28 poison damage (according to the games guide). That alone, without any increased damage, more damage (which i both had in game with the dummy above) or the poison penetration the first 30 poison stacks apply already eachals 196, aka more than what the dummy shows me.

As armor doesn't apply to damage over time and enemies have no resistances, where am i going wrong here?

that is the guide i am refering too, yes. the in game guide says 1 poison stack deals 28 damage, which again puts /7 x 28 = 196) the damage even without anything else above the dummy number

I'm not sure, but does the floating damage pop up exactly once per second?

I have the impression that it is more frequent than that, perhaps once every 0.5 seconds.

So you might actually be dealing 392 damage per second with poison, for example, if that is the case. Can't check right now here either.

Oh and you probably noticed it, but on your character sheet, in the "Other" tab, you can see your base poison damage (the 28 multiplied by your increased Poison damage and increased Damage Over Time); though in practice it's also affected by damage modifiers of your skill specialisation so that stat might not be very useful for you.

Just to mention it OP, in case you still have questions:

I've recorded it when using poison against training dummies and played it frame by frame to check the timestamps, and the damage pop ups once every 0.5 seconds indeed.

So your poison DPS is double what the damage floating numbers indicate.

DoT "ticks" and damage display "ticks" are two different numbers. So what happens is your DoT "ticks" are grouped up and displayed each damage "tick". I have no idea if this is going to solve your question or add to it, but it is another piece of the situation.
