Very positive to Mixed rating
Makes me really sad to see this tbh.
Sure, launch wasn't smooth but come on...

Come on what?
Game has a terrible launch and most folks can't play. That's it.
Game is good, performance and tech issues are terrible. So mixed reviews sound about right

Yeah but i legit feel bad for the developers. You can see they are good guys with good intentions.

Sorry man. You go to a restaurant and get served a spider on your pizza and you probably don't want to go back. Same goes with the situation here, if people don't give them pressure then there wont be any sort of urgency to get this fixed as they are seen as 'the good guys'.

Okay, but will the people giving them "pressure" actually REMOVE the negative reviews once it's fixed?

I don't think the average recent rating will have a long term impact as long as they get the servers under control. Because the game is good and has potential. Also the developers.

On the other hand, you have to expect short-term ratings to deteriorate when something like this happens. Saying nothing would also be wrong. Just like completely exaggerated hatred, which sometimes has the charm of conspiracy theories.

Companies are not your friend. They're all out to make as much profit as possible and are responsible primarily to their shareholders, not to their audience or userbase.

Either learn this lesson early or later, the hard way.

Well it's not like anyone forced them to release a game at this state. They could have made a stress test before 1.0 tbh.
I get that it's a shi** situation to be in, I really do so any idiotic toxicity towards devs is totally dumb.
But at the same time people who brought the game have right to expect it to work - there are no double standards. Diablo 4, PoE or LE - They all need to work and work well if they want to get positive reviews.

So yeah - Steam reviews and forum are a cesspool but it's also the only tool consumers have to let devs know that something is seriously wrong with the game. And as it is now - There's plenty wrong with Last Epoch.

Path of Exile went negative reviews twice, Expedition and Lake of Kalandra league. It got back to positive. Seems like LE fans arent confident that it will go back to positive hence this "stop the review bombing" campaign.

Why it was completely self inflicted based upon their pr, lack of preparedness with this launch. People paid money for a product, they didn't do this out of the kindness of their hearts. This is a business transaction.
Toastman Feb 23, 2024 @ 4:13am
It'll go back. Soon as it's fixed, it may take a week but it'll go back. Well, it depends on how long it takes to fix. Right now, most will edit their review. If for some reason it takes a week+, well it might take a bit longer to get that rating up. People are fickle, a week and some won't even remember this.

You sound like a reasonable person so I'll bother answering, the devs DID stress test the game, they even hired consultants and set no maximum spending on server infrastructure (Source : https://old.reddit.com/r/LastEpoch/comments/1awz34h/launch_day_recap_from_game_directorfounder/ )

The problem is that the issues they are currently having come from a breaking point they didn't hit during stress testing (and due to the nature of testing you can never simulate how a service would react to actual players unless you invest in dozens of thousands of servers around the globe and make them run the game, which would be extremely expensive even to do for a few hours, and most likely beyond their budget).

My theory is that they relied on Unity Matchmaking (which was proud that LE was using it as you can see here https://unity.com/case-study/last-epoch ) and the article specifically says that the beta multiplayer launch was "record breaking" (article dates from 2022) despite being nowhere close the release's numbers which (to me) sounds like they never tested it on really big projects.
