Anyway, it's 8:30AM now over there, so bigger parts of the team should come to work and hopefully fix the remaining issues.
Edit - Still at loading screen gonna be longer.
So, they sold 1m copies - that's AT LEAST $35million in revenue. Which they celebrated.
I would have EXPECTED them to plan for at least 20% i.e. 200k logging in and playing the game they paid good money for. Wouldn't any business?
Also this a Global launch and not just NA, so when NA is asleep the expectation is what? The Rest of the World does not play? You would have thought they would have a back up team to take care of it when others are sleeping no? Wouldn't any global business?
Sorry I just don't buy these arguments.
They say they had 1 million copies sold before launch, you would think using some common sense, that you would have or lease a server that could handle at least one third to half that number.
They knew how many potential players they could have max, yet didn't prepare for that number, half that number or even one third that number.
Lack of funds to get that type of server, incompetence, or just not caring, can put pretty much put what ever you think here but in the end this is 100% their fault for letting this happen as it could have been avoided with a little basic forethought and basic math skills.
I like the game, I think it nails a niche that a lot of players find comfortable and accessible, and I want to support the development as much as I can. At the end of the day though, the game needs to be playable first and foremost. Offline mode is appreciated, but undesirable if it means running the same content all over again to catch up in Online play. My 2 cents anyway.
It's a good game though. And Im sure it will settle down.
I like the game so wont be going back to D4.
And for that, I can put up with a bit of short term frustration for a game that has way better end game and much better systems.
