is there any point to losing skill specialization points when you want to change up your build?
I feel like it just punishes you for wanting to try out new things because if it doesn't work out you can't just go back to your old build

I'd agree with you if Last Epoch didn't make it a huge thing to respecc easily with the intention to try out different builds. With respeccing often comes different abilities.

This is just conflicting with each other.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's just a game, chill out, it's not that serious.

It doesn't make sense to offer the freedom of reassigning points but you have to take like 20 minutes of killing stuff at the higher levels to get that point back.

This is only somewhat of an issue early on.
As you level, the minimum skill level increases too.
Eventually the minimum skill level will be 10 and at endgame you will have it back up in the time it takes to do a quest.
it's not like you will have high levels at the start to begin with.

Yeah, why don't we get ARPG with a creative mode, right?

Actually, changing up your skillset isn't that hard once you finish the campaign. I'd recommend playing through the main game with one skillset and trying out new stuff once you've finished -You can get skill points pretty fast doing monoliths and dungeons. At least that's my experience from the preseason :)

It feels very punishing during the campaign and leveling and that's the prime time when people are learning and experimenting. It feeling punishing leads to not nearly as much experimentation, which feels bad. I do not get how people don't get such a simple line of reasoning. Again, it's just a game, games are played to be relaxing (usually).
