It's a top-down ARPG, not a high fidelity FPS.... large client size typically comes from high resolution textures, and in some cases including a feature length movie worth of cutscenes in the game (Yes, I'm talking about you Blizzard).

And this game doesn't require either.

Actual game content is primarily code, and code is minuscule in terms of file size.

Which is also why even after over 10 years of post-release development, over a dozen league additions of audio and art assets added the game and all the rest, Path of Exile is still only around approximately 35GB in size.

This:steamthis: Game size does not means nothing in terms of the amount of content a game has or even the quality of it, as I have played games that are not even a GB that have more content in them then games that are 100s of GB worth of data.

An easy example would be playing the latest CODMW3 campaign which sits around 100+GB but is 4-5hrs long and a game like Torchlight 2 that is only 2-3GB and has 30+hrs on base game content, or even Grim Dawn which is 5-8GB and has 40-50+ hrs of base game to get through.

It has pretty low fidelity. Character models are very basic and the world itself isn't close to what the competition produce.

Also the main story isn't finished. It just stops at some point.

This sums it up!

it’s mostly goofy looking stock assets and there is no end game so yeah it’s on the smaller side for download
