The online experience, not just because of the server launch issues but just a lot of design and stability in general- makes for a weaker online experience overall. I keep having my character model disappear, huge lag spikes, disconnects, etc....
It has no features like seeing through teammate minions, no transmog for player appearances, none of that level of Diablo polish either.
Last Epoch has a much better skill system and character build diversity than Diablo does, it also has a better crafting system if you can even call what D4 has "Crafting".
Diablo wins in graphics, audio, story, online gameplay, intuitiveness and scale.
Last Epoch wins in Build diversity, core/offline gameplay, gearing, character growth/classes, end game content, and development support/communication.
It has build depth that is closer to path of exile levels of crazyness but all while being almost as easy to dive into as Diablo is.
If you paid for and played Diablo 4, this game is absolutely worth it. It's like half the price for a game that, if talking about offline only, is still good enough to be mentioned alongside Diablo, PoE, Grim Dawn, etc.
if there is one thing D4 and blizzard does it is intuitiveness. and their online play even first week was lacking.
Last Epoch needs to work out some bugs it has and keep dropping content, but once that is worked out it has a good shot of being around for a while; especially if PoE2 is as complex as PoE1.
That said, both games are likely to get improvements over time, and they've both got the potential to be great. Until then, if you haven't tried it, I think Grim Dawn is probably the best ARPG around right now.
I feel that sometimes the devs don't even played the game lol.
LE has better itemization, stashes, endgame potential.
Gameplay is very subjective.
If you like D2, I think you'll enjoy LE.
Game have some jank animations, but its budged soo. Its worth it. Im still cant go through money waste on diablo, but last epoch its ok, devs really deserve it.
Lore and story is better in last epoch, i dont know how people can say that D4 had any lore, they bassicaly destroyed open world. One really good Open world H&S is sacred 1-2.
"better than Diablo 4"
That is not a high bar to meet.
then show off on leaderboard no one cares about via the ARENA where you fight wave after wave after ave with boss that is stupidly overtuned lol
and do this all whilst following a cookie cutter build on maxroll, now your a gamer.
