Stop Moving! (Shop/Inventory gripe)

I play with a controller but of course being on PC M/KB is plugged in and the mouse is needed more often than not due to bugs with the controller (a generic XBox affair).

But why when I am in the shop or inventory is my character still able to move, the amount of times I go to do anything in either of these and my character is heading due north or south or any which way but lose.

Its gotten to the stage where I have to unplug the controller and do most of this via the mouse.
