Crafting system forging potential RNG is a downer

I am playing a mage at level 38 and trying to keep my gear up to a decent standard. So I picked up a pair of magic boots of brigandine with hp, hp regen suffixes and max movement speed. Yay, I thought, if I can add some extra movement speed and intelligence shards, it can last me until the next armor tier.

I added T1 intelligence shard with glyph of hope, forging potential went from 22 to 7. Okay, no need to despair, lady luck can still smile on me, right? I pressed on and added T1 movement speed, forging potential went down to 0.

I mean, come on, does it has to be this punishing? I just wanted to a little upgrade.

On the flip side of things, you can get lucky with critical crafts that grant bonus upgrades for free. Keep trying.

i mean RNG is a ♥♥♥♥♥ but you dont state if you was also using the glyph of hope too, I hope you was but you dont say.

I think the variance is too high, I got -25 FP at one point, 1-25 is too large of a range when items have around 40 FP. Maybe 1-15 would be better.

I did mention using glyph of hope in my post.

Don't worry much at that level. Honestly you don't need much. Don't worry about trying to craft t4/5 rolls.

You'll find much better gear w/more forge potential. Your probably finding a bunch of gear 10-20 w/low rolls so you have to craft several times for the outcome you want. Once you find stuff w/high rolls you will craft less. Still rng is rng but nothing like trying to go from so low T1 multiple times

Dont bother too much before entering the endgame. There will be items that tilt the RNG in your favor later on. And you can max out affixes. They have a max cap. Which means you can max out your affixes before your potential runs out.

Those boots are still way better than anything I care for in the campaign

Until Majasa is killed my boots just need to have that 1% more movement speed than the old pair, every other stat is irrelevant to me

I like it so far. The rng could be much much more punishing. I bet you have way more glyphs of hope and shards to add those stats on other items still. So, not a big deal. Just do it again on a different item.
