Lagon is too much (for a first play "campaign playthrough")
The one shotting is jsut too annoying to be satisfying in any way... one misclick and your out. Thats not really nessecary in a campaing. Within the end game ok. But what do i do now? I am not respeccing all of my Warlock just for the boss. And am already a few levels above said boss. I have maxed out my resistances or close to it.. what now? So leveling up and ginding it is. But is that really nessecary? Maybe tune him down and add more challenge in the late game.

I beat him after trying again, and paying particular attention to the red eye prompt. I was probably too frustrated to notice the pattern. I beat him on the first attempt.

I will reclassify this boss as good now. He can kill you quickly, but very doable once you learn the pattern.

Thanks for the tips peeps

No worries

it's a right of passage

Everyone went up to Lagon, got slapped, said 'wtf', came to complain, were told on tips to beat them + how to improve builds, fixed builds and learnt fight then walked through it and now recommend the same to the next person who comes in to repeat the cycle

With good and somewhat difficult games we all get two gifts: the game and the complaining about it on steam/reddit

Despite somewhat elitist answers, Lagoon is strong, way stronger than anything else so dont feel bad dying to him, just his HP alone is 10 times higher than anything before him. For both stages standing near staircase helps you avoid most but not all attack. The slow circle that appears under your feet must be stepped away from, even with all max resists it will one shot you. His breath also does a ton of damage and should be avoided. It will take you a bunch of tries, that boss ended my hardcore run, its undoutably very strong without a build.
thats not true, AS a marksman at lv 50 I can stand in the corner of the stairs and spam hail of arrows and puncture at the tentacle and I dont have to move for the whole phase, regen and health leech etc was enough to let me face tank every move, even the "opne shots" only put me at about half hp. Second phase only the sharks could kill me so i put 15 points into falconer for net to lock them down, now that phase is ez too, phase 3, corner, face tank everything and dont have to move AT ALL, as probably one of the squishiest classes.

After him I respecced from defence back to my dps glass cannon, sure I guess I could have learned his moveset by dying over and over and really learned him but you also have the option of just going super defensive.

Please make sure to sell a BIG RED Button in the cosmetic shop so I will have no issue finding that button to win the game with! Thanks!!

Doing my first playthrough, as a level 54 high HP high ward generation Spellblade I had no issue with Lagon. I was able to stand still and just tank everything.

This isn't a brag, i'm just confused about how he is hard. Do people rush to him under levelled? Do they build glass cannons?

Lagon's 3rd phase (when you return to his head) the attack he does where he moves his neck to one side and his eye glows red, before doing a beam attack that scrapes 1/2 the platform is intended to 1 shot you (unless you're a super tank)

You need to be on the other side of the platform or hide in the tiny space in the top left where the beam can't get to you

you can use resist + hp leech/regen to effectively tank the rest of the fight

Also its a good wake up call

You need to start changing your character from glass cannon all focused on damage to include resists / hp regen and defensive + movement skill for your build

If Lagon didn't exist you wouldn't pass Majasa in the next chapter either as without any resist or regen you will fall over instantly there

The Monolith bosses also require resists/regen and learning fights to not be 1 shot by certain mechanics

i look at this, and i dont know if i should be proud of my stubborness and determination, or be ashamed that i wanted to slave extra hours to beat both the story and the monolith bosses with the build i created myself, before swapping to something properly sourced.
honestly think i only managed it cus rogue invuln dash and 100% dodge proc on smoke bomb.

anyways, yeah, this. you can kill a boss with a thousand papercuts, but cant come back from being a puddle of blood on the ground, better survive than risking shattering when someone sneezes at you. or on lagons case looks at you funny.

You should feel good to overcome the hurdle that Lagon/Majasa/Epoch Bosses presents

It means your build works and you have thought it through

I'm not very good at arpg and thought this was the most fun boss in the game up to that point. watch where the waves are coming from and avoid the eye beam by checking where the eye is looking and it fell in about 3 minutes on my third attempt. It's an avoidance boss to prepare you for the endgame stuff. It's the last major hurdle for people who are getting into, or getting back into the type of game that this is. It was a lot of fun and again. I'm not very good, out of practice by a few years on these games

Yeah well, nah. Noobs gonna noob. If they listen to non-skills like you, the game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Moreover, if you want an easy game, Diablo 3 is on battle.net pretty cheap. Bye.

I discovered that you can hide behind the rocks on either side of the arena and this stops his cold damage attacks from hitting you. Then you can use range attacks on the totems.

I thought initially he was a bit too tough. Then I tried a few more times, learned his attacks and the safe zones, kept moving around as much as possible during the fight and beat him fairly easily.

The important thing is to learn the attacks, the phases and find the safe zones.

As a hint, the safe zone during phase 1 of the fight is to hug the tentacles at either end of the stairs.
