Last Epoch

What does selecting "cycle" do on an offline character?
I saw some posts about the option, I've not gotten the game yet, but I was wondering. Are they planning some sort of offline "ladder" or season? I wouldn't want my character to disappear if that were the case, so I just wanted to know what the toggle does in offline mode.

In offline you would choose to make a cycle character if you want a "fresh start" for the season and don't want your characters to have millions of gold or thousands of crafting materials on hand immediately at game start if you have well played legacy characters already. There is currently no new content in "cycle 1" and the only other distinction it has is a leaderboard which isn't relevant for offline.

The next few cycles are also not planned to have unique content because the developers plan to spend the next year or two finishing the game and adding in missing content rather than "new cycle content." After that I don't know if they have decided whether or not playing in a cycle will grant you special content, or if legacy characters will have instant access to everything. It looks like cycles will work the same online and offline though, just minus the leaderboards.

Cycle is the current season. Typically cycle means a character chooses to participate in the new content for that cycle. But as of cycle 1, the content is the same as non-cycle. In the future, existing characters will probably migrate to non-cycle after the completion of a cycle. New cycle specific content will be available only for cycle characters.

Yes, but that usually applies to online characters, not locally-stored offline characters. That is why I'm asking what that option does for offline-only characters.

If i had to guess, it does exactly the same as for online characters? Otherwise you wouldn't get the new future seasonal content ever for offline.

Have they said this seasonal content for online mode will come to offline at all?
I don’t particularly care if it does, since I’m going to be offline 99.99 percent of the time (as in not even connected to the internet) and I’m never playing online mode.

Man, that sucks, I wish it had a shared stash, too. Hell, even Torchlight 1 has that. Hopefully an update in the future might add it.

There is a shared stash. Your stash for offline is shared between the following;

All Cycle characters share a stash unless you select "Solo Self-Found". I don't believe offline has Solo Account Found, but it works like offline mode in Online by sharing an exclusive stash between your SAF characters, but not your SSF or regular Online characters.

These Cycle Stashes cannot be access by Legacy Characters. Who have their own stash.

So in D2R, all Offline Characters are automatically given all Ladder-Only content. I HOPE LE will work the same way but it doesn't seem like it at the moment, given we can select Cycle characters in Offline. So it likely gives access to current Cycle content (when there is any) to your offline character without requiring you to play online.

Oh, interesting, did not know D2R worked like that. That’s actually cool. I was gifted the game at one point, but I hate online checks for offline games, so I patched it and have used it exclusively offline and away from blizz servers or bnet ever since.
Thank you for the info.

No. Offline characters also share money/mats/stash.
