How to change global chat?

Just logged into my character just to find myself in german global chat. No clue how I even ended up there but I would very much prefer not having to cope with it (even though I'm german myself).

Is there any way to change the global chat the game throws you into? Some help would be very much appreciated.

Just in case anyone else has the same issue: Close the the game and change the language option on the login screen. That seemed to work for me.
