Forge Guard's Ring of Shields

Does the immolation perk even work? I've been trying to make a righteous fire wannabe build, but kinda at wall. I got a wand, with increase damage over time and elemental damage over time. in the suffix its got +4 minion spell damage too.

The only time i see damage numbers is when enemies attack the shields.

Never try it, but I had a lot of bug and trouble with my ring of shield.
