Sure, the reason might be stupid, but people lost their HC characters in D3 and D4 to disconnects as well and if you are taking it this hard, I don't think HC is for you, characters there die permanently in all other ARPGs, why are you mad about the one single game, where they are not deleted?
Then there are people complaining in some forum when that happens as if that would change anything.
Personally I would never play HC online. Never. Diablo showed how bad of an idea that is .. and that isn't different here.
That said. Since the character doesnt get deleted.. HC isn't that hardcore either imho. Unless you refuse to play softcore like .. ever.
Anyway, they said it was a bug that they intend to address, particularly with the other issues related to HC. Do you folks also think you should lose your entire stash due to a disconnect?
Basic lesson from someone that only plays HC in this kind of game: never grow too attached and don't take it too seriously. Not just because you can die to a silly mistake or lack of attention but, much more importantly, because you can die to stuff like what you described. Sometimes the server go kaboom and there goes your character.
It sucks when the character die due to network issues, bugs or the like, but if you play HC it's really better to learn to just shrug and move on., because that stuff will happen.
But good luck with support, hope they can help you; all the better if they can.
It's also really annoying how you can't see your health bars in menus, and there's no obvious indicator if you're taking damage, other than sound of enemies attacking.
Only play it True Offline, if at all
(i don't see the point of hardcore myself, but at least in Last Epoch you don't lose your character it just converts to a normal character and can still be played normally which is good)
Eh, the first few times you play a game like this on hardcore you have the mentality of trying your hardest to never die, and with that mentality it can be very frustrating to lose a character, especially to bugs, disconnects or the like.
But later on dying kinda becomes the whole point of playing, it's like the end goal in a sense. It's no longer about trying to never die, but to see how and when you will die.
It's a closure to the "endless grind" loop of ARPGs.
With that mentality losing a character due to network issues or bugs becomes more like just an annoyance. It sucks but not a big deal.
I commend you for being that patient
I'm not built for it, especially when connected online and having server hiccups costing x amount of hours of work in an arpg etc
You really have that Zen mindset going on and that's really admirable
