True Offline mode still requires internet.

My home internet was out earlier today. At that time, I figured that I would play some Last Epoch. Ever since 1.0 came out, I have it switched to True Offline mode. When I launched it, it told me to login and wouldn't allow me to even select offline. After this, I closed it down and verified in properties of the game within the Steam Library was still set for offline.

What gives here? One of the selling points for me is the ability to play when I don't have internet. I eventually just tethered my phone to my system to get past the initial login to play my offline character.

Before anyone asks, I am on 1.0 (playing a Warlock for my character). Is there some other setting I need to change to allow me to play without internet? Does Steam itself have to be in online mode (would seem silly to offer an offline mode for the game while requiring Steam to still be online) and that's what was causing the issue?

Game has 3 modes

1) Online
2) Offline-lite(fake) * you can switch to this from the Login screen and switch between Online/Offline, still has chat features etc

3) True Offline (no connection to server to play, all on your computer, no chat etc either)

Full Offline Mode

* This can be accessed through the Steam UI by following these instructions:
* Right clicking on the game in your library
* Select Properties
* Under general there will be a section titled Launch Options
* Under the dropdown menu you can select to launch Last Epoch in Full Offline Mode or have it ask you every time you launch the game
* You will likely get prompted to choose this preference when you first launch the game after downloading the 1.0 version
* In order to play the game online after launching in Full Offline Mode, you will need to fully exit and re-launch the game in non-Full Offline mode
* Using Escape in Offline Mode now pauses the game
* Feature differences in Full Offline mode:
* Bug Report and Support Ticket buttons are removed
* Chat item linking is disabled, though chat window can still be viewed
* Region Selection dropdown shows as unavailable
* Online character tab is hidden
* Cannot return to the Landing Zone page after selecting Play Offline
* A full restart of application is required to change between Full Offline and Online modes


* If you log in and character select is blank please restart your client

It probably still requires a token that expires after so many days and you have to log back in to confirm you in fact paid for the game.

If you make a normal desktop shortcut to launch the game it ignores the launch in full offline setting. I'm guessing you've been using a shortcut to play all week and have never yet launched in true offline mode and have instead been playing normal "offline" mode which requires a connection.

Nope. Does not matter what you do, 'OffLine' mode is fake. You can know this because even when launched using the Steam and the Launcher OffLine selections, AND the game confirms you are in 'OffLine' mode? You can see OTHER PLAYERS IN CHAT!.

If the game were truly running OffLine, you certainly would not see other players talking in your chat window. Remember, this is after the game has confirmed in Character Select that it is an OffLine character logging into the game.

Real offline doesn't have a chat. Me and thousands of people have been using it for a week, please quit spouting your misinformation in the forum.

I don't care about chat. I only care about being able to play without internet since mine is unreliable. If chat bothers you, you can turn it off.

Its what the other guy said u been playing in offline chat. You have to use the play button each & every time on the steam page to do true offline. I found this out playing around seeing if chat was still there or not. When you have true offline mode it will say on the login screen the other options are not available.

I hope that these devs make the true offline available from the login screen sometime in the future. Having to open steam just to play offline is stupid imo.
