Shards, Auto-loot and storage
- It may be great if shards can be collected just moving-over like gold.
- Also, instead of a button to store the shards from the inventory to the materials box ,why not skip inventory and store directly?

That was the first the that came to my mind too: Why click that little UI button to swoosh the mats into the depository. They should just go there directly.

Also +1 for move-over collect.

They dont go there cuz you can sell/trade them. Once they go in the mats inventory you cant take them out anymore

Don't really care about the inventory but yes auto collect is needed

Fully agree!

Yeah looting them and sending them to materials section feels like a counter-intuitive experience.

I wouldn't mind looting them by clicking to send them automatically to the crafting section, would be much better.

Even across your own characters?

What’s the point? If you can only trade/sell just the ones currently in inventory.

Not having them auto-collect is an intentional design choice, the devs wanted you to feel like you're picking up Runes in D2 (though, idols are more accurate for that feeling) and said they have no interest in shards being auto-collected.

Maybe they'll change their mind, but that was the last I heard about it.

Edit, found the post from EHG_Mike:
Given the recent influx of players and new feedback, we have recently discussed this again in a game design meeting. We are not interested in implementing this at this time. We may discuss it again internally but do not expect this to change by launch.

We believe that it’s important for the feel of the game loop to have enemies fairly frequently drop items that you want to take an active action to pick up, but which you don’t have to take time to inspect to work out whether it’s good for you. However there are times where it feels bad at the moment, especially when it’s just one shard, so we’re planning to have them drop slightly less frequently and in larger groups on average. We’re also planning to add more of a sink for shards you don’t want, so that it feels less futile to have picked up a shard that you aren’t planning to use and already have hundreds of.

I'm ok with picking them up so it remains an active part of gameplay, but the button to transfer to material storage is functionally useless and needs to go. Picking shards up should send directly to storage.

It's ESPECIALLY bad on gamepad. I was trying to play the game on a handheld and the pain of having to open the inventory and move the cursor to that button every couple of minutes was enough to get me to stop.

Yes auto collect would be great. They really feel like something that should be auto collected, even though the devs for some reason think they don't.

Your mat storage is shared across your characters you don't need to trade them at all they can all access the same storage of mats unless they are solo character found.

I have no problem picking them up but sending to storage manually is just unnecessary.
