Loot gone after town portal??
Kill boss, town portal to empty bags, portal back and boss has reset and all loot gone.

Is this intended or the mother of all bugs?

Started as a bug, got rolled into a feature. What you are describing is a lack of map permanence. The instance resets when you leave.

"people" defend this unintended feature as intended and even a "good" thing, but it is what it is, and no fix is scheduled, despite claims that EHG had a fix ready to go with the MP patch.

It's definitely surprising the first time it happens, but it's really not that big a deal. You just have to realize you don't need to pick up and sell all the things. Look at the value of the junk gear compared to what's dropping for gold. Even lvl 30+ items sell for pocket change compared to the amount of actual gold piles that drop.

My first char is up to lvl 45, haven't sold any gear since around lvl 10 (when I first encountered this "feature"), and I'm still sitting on 50k gold after buying several stash tabs.

See above, and to be fair they are correct if you are picking up things to sell the value is >< however if you actually want the loot because its loot then well tough decisions.

Yeah this is actually a nice change from certain other games. I was just disappointed because I thought I'd sift through everything (for upgrades) back in town in my own time. But I'm only 17 so not exactly a disaster.

Yeah you'll have plenty of loot to sort through, and most of it will be replaced faster than you can blink. Especially as you continue to learn which stats are better for your build.

This is going to kill the game on release.

It's too infuriating.

It also kills the leveling paceing. Your are constantly overleveled.

It's uttlery baffeling how the devs could drop the ball on this.

Not a chance, there are too many "people" who make excuses for the behavior for it to matter. Reality has no bearing on the reviews of LE, don't you know that?

Look around there are people praising the itemization of LE and at the same time we have videos from the developer openly admitting itemization is borked.

What I do is use a loot filter so I only pick up what affixes I need and the unique stuff. I check the others to see if they have anything while they are on the ground and I never leave a place without an item I want since they disappear. If it has only one affix like a blue item with a tier 5 affix I just use the rune of removal since it will guarantee the removal of that singular affix. I learnt to dump stuff after a bit since the shattering runes were 2k a piece. I became picky.

A lot of loot no need to worry about something you lost at a low level you'll see better very soon since loot drops like a pinata. It's just a different rule set you can get used to. However if it bothers you it is understandable. I adapted.
