Lmao :D
Imagine gate keeping people for using a different controller.
This is you =
depending on the controller type. XBox - disconnect, connect - don't touch your mouse. If you touch keyboard or more the stick loses connection. Sometimes it helps to open the menue with START and close it with controller again.
Steam controller: Use big picture and disable 3rd party controller in Steam.
something that helped later on when I noticed I can't change keys I figured that I just need to delete the user folder AppData/ElevenHoursGame/
I played ARPG's for 20+ years with M+K and it is my MUCH preferred way to play. But after a certain age it was just too painful.
ARPG's are the only genre that does this (in fact I'm inclined to think they are one of the causes of it)
So controller is effectively the only way I can play now. I play PoE with controller and have some insane builds, really not that hard.
I played PoE on PS4 since it came out and just moved back to PC - though PS4 controller support on PoE is MUCH better than on PC
It's rare that I need more than 7 or 8 skills and that's jsut simple normal button presses with a controller (8 skills plus 4 flask buttons on PoE bound to D-Pad)
I can map 12 to a controller if I need to. Rarely if ever needed to.
If I have a 12 skill/talent build then it's always the case that some are very situational so they go on L3 and R3 or whatever. Movement, flask handling and 8 skills is really really easy
Flasks on the Dpad, movement with the right analogue, 4 skills on the action keys, and one each on the LT, RT, LB and RT. I can sometimes use the left analogue to map 4 more skill on though those tend to be ones I rarely use.
Nice thing is menu control is no issue with M+K so when I do inventory stuff I just do it with M+K. That causes no problems at all with wrist pain. It's only the hundreds of fast micro movements you make with a mouse under pressure playing ARPG's that is a "wrist wrecker"
Says "B1tchFight"...
EDIT: Joking aside... I've been waiting to see how controller support shapes up with this game for a LONG time.... are you telling me it's STILL not 100% supported? It's 2024. I don't care how good this game looks in every other department, if the game doesn't have full native controller support by release then it's going to hurt the games sales/reviews in a very large way.
I can't understand not implementing full controller support in a game like this these days (yes, even "hardcore aRPGs" should be developed from the ground up in a way that allows for a fluid experience on both k+m and controller - the tools are there for the devs, they just need to put in the effort).
You can play - but it's not like Diablo 4 or Grim Dawn or PoE on PS4 (Or Torchlight 2 on consoles). It's not as good as Titan Quest AE either
It's not even as good as PoE on PC with GGG's half baked controller set up (Which is odd - as on PS4 PoE - with the exact same controller - is flawless)
I hate to say it - but currently it's not even as good a controller implementation as Wolcen which they added in 1.1.6.0
It's the reason I refunded LE. Controller support in LE is horrible. Aiming is terrible, movement is sluggish, button remapping requires a degree in astrophysics to get to work properly. Missiles (arrows or magic ) morph through enemies without doing any damage when using controller. That last issue is constant and may also be an issue with M+K. Hit boxes in this game are a joke.
I've been duped before. "V Rising" has had the developers saying "Controller support is on their road-map but not a priority" for almost 2 years and it's never materialised and now they ignore requests and close threads when people ask about it.
Which means I wasted money on that game as I can't play it for more than 10 minutes without CT issues that cripple my wrist for days.
Not falling for that again.
Agreed. I use a MMO mouse with over 15 buttons on it. I only ever need to press one skill at time in ARPGs, there is no need for simultaneous presses or tightly timed presses like in a fighting game. So every skill is bound on the mouse for me. This works exceptionally well when WASD movement is available. When WASD is not available, I grab a controller when possible. The slight loss in targeting precision makes up for my general annoyance with click to move. It's just not something I find enjoyable, and none of the various band-aids across different games to halt character movement when necessary have ever made it feel better to play for me.
No, controller support is 100% why skills are at a limited number, and thats not even a discussion - that is a game design truth, as many had more bc console ports became a thing. 10-15 buttons would be a fantastic level of complexity for an arpg, without it being TOO much like an mmo
