It feels like edmund mcmillen balanced this. I'm obliterating all the trash but the moment something hits me my life just goes from 100 to 0 faster than an american on his way to wendy's.
The fact that his tentacles are swiping at you constantly whilst he's also throwing a one shotting attack every few seconds makes using a melee against him a misserable experience. My first class was a mage and i was doing monos at level 30 with no problem the first time i arrive at the end of time (pre runes of power).
With the paladin i had to level up a lot and be methodical to be sure that i killed everything before they had a chance to attack or ill be in a bad spot, specially when you're facing massive scarabs that tank like hell, hit like trucks and for some reason can get the "frenzies when allies die" affix...
The crafting system carries this game hard...because everything else feels like garbage. Either follow a guide for a broken build or just forget about having fun because you tried to make your own thing.
I just remembering the fight had more phases before?

Yes, it took EHG all these years to implement the bog standard for this type of boss fight, the same change we were told was not good enough on the official feedback forum all those years ago.
Lagon is no long the poster boss for hitbox issues, he is now the poster boss for melee punishment and simply representative of hitbox issues that apply broadly to bosses.
Sure the targeting was iffy in the old version but at lest I could still kill him slowly.
