Progress wipe on release?

as the title states will there be a wipe when the game launches? I have no idea if i should come back to it or just wait for a release.

There will be no wipe at launch.

Characters in online mode now. Will get moved to a legacy mode. Similar to standard poe mode.

Fresh start but no wipe.

If I understand correctly, the Characters you are playing in Online Mode will be totally "wiped" as in meaning you will only be able to play them in Offline Mode, never ever again in Online.
So for you to play a Character in Online and eventually Co-Op when 1.0 Launches, you will need to make a Brand NEW one.

No there will be no wipe what so ever. What people are asking when referring to wipe. Is characters being completely erased never to be played again.

I don't think legacy mode is going to be offline. Legacy in my understanding is a different online mode. Basically poes standard league.

Is there confirmation from the devs that legacy mode will be offline. Tbh EHG is opening them selves up to an exploit where offline can find away into online play. If it's not done properly

There's also cosmetics. So EHG is just going to pretty much give players the finger when it comes to playing there legacy characters without cosmetics. If thats the case.

Also old characters pre 0.9 mp update. Where all saved locally which is why they where moved to offline mode. and not saved on the severs like they are currently in online mode.

Edit: confirmed via discord a developer the_madd_hatter Legacy mode will be online. No characters will go to offline or be able to go to online play

..a fresh start IS a wipe. look at the title AND read the post. theres no point in coming back NOW if nothing you do is going to be there for release (because it will be >>wiped<< and put in legacy mode).

thats not a wipe that was my whole point. you charactors will still be there for you to play when 1.0 comes out in feb just in legacy mode.

your not loosing any charactors you have now which would be a wipe if thats what they did. but they arent poe doesnt do wipes either charactors get moved over to standard league they arent wiped you can still play them.

It's amazing isn't it that so close to release stuff like this doesn't seem decided on.

Also I wouldn't put to much faith in developer comments, they regularly claim things on discord/reddit/official forum, only to have another developer or the CEO later contradict them.
