i just refunded d4 3 hours before i was able to play it and bought this to replace it. i feel much better about this purchase.

I know your being facetious here, but actually to be pedantic 'people' not playing after they purchase the game will in fact undo the game, or rather undo what the developers current plans for the game are. Namely live service funded by MTXs.

So as much as this particular user won't likely be missed, if this is a wider trend going forward then yes that is a concern.

Sometimes i am trying to imagine the people behind such posts.
What are their intentions? Why are so mad at everything and everyone?
Is their life so terrible that this is their outlet?
Anyway who gives a ♥♥♥♥, after playing D4 in beta and for a few days now i already can't wait to get back into LE. For me it has so much more to offer than D4. D4 is just the same old ♥♥♥♥ again. Boring as ♥♥♥♥. And LE is not even fully released yet.

I will love to come back to this post in a year or two and ask you again about which game is still more relevant, can't wait :)

Really, we are surprised that all the kids want to play with the newer shinier toy for a while now? Of course they are, i am too. But even now in the honeymoon phase i am still much more excited about LE in the future than same old same old Diablo. Already bored half way through leveling..

If you think D4 is going to be less played and less relevant than LE in a year you need help.

D3 was objectively terrible (barely playable) at launch and is the 19th best selling video game of all time. In between D4 being already better than D3 and POE2s beta and release LE will be a niche game at best. And it kinda deserves to be, the devs chased the live service gravy train and should have stuck to making a great game first.

It's quite bold to claim OW2 as a success story when there has been a mass exodus from the game ever since it came out that a year before launching their "Early Access" it was already clear that the thing we supposedly got "Early Access" to was never going to happen in the way it was sold, which provided the whole justification for it's new F2P + MTX + BP business modell.

In fact, if LE is anything like OW2, they will announce, around half a year after 1.0, that they will never finish it.

The market is different and it is a market that the users here are not a part of. What is the average person who games? think about it for a second, got a vague description?

if you said approx 35 years old, games for approximately 8 hours a week, and does not engage with out of game material you were correct.

That means that all of this forum and 2nd site info is lost on them.

It is why LE has so many absent players as seen in the numbers compared to the sales, and why any complaints about any game on the forums has >< impact on the largest portion of the player base. It is also why Blizzard can keep right on being Blizzard and not have to worry about it. The people who point to the controversies are pointing out information that has little to no effect on the largest section of users.

Lets be real Blizzard is very good at drawing in that large section of casual gamers, they built their company on it. No one has the power to save or the condemn either game, well aside from the active in game decisions made by the company. Case in point *gestures vaguely at everything*

The only real question is, do you think EHG can sustain the studio on the current numbers? Do you think EHG can deliver on all of their marketing promises with the income such numbers deliver? Perhaps most importantly if development on LE stopped due to sales would you be happy with LE as it currently is?

Even Blizzard as large as they are shelved Overwatch 2 development, so to think a smaller studio is immune to basic business realities is silly. This is perhaps more concerning when you poke around and see just how many "people" defend the LE cash shop by holding the just do not buy it, I do not plan to buy anything flag.

It is what it is. LE always been on the bottom of the ARPG ladder. Still going to play Diablo 4, and still probably going to come back to enjoy LE for what it is, especially how it allows me to play the builds I enjoy.

POE was always better than LE, I played the closed beta it was clear even then that it was going to be a good game. In fact if anything its become more messy and bloated and worse in many ways over the years. The closed and open betas were leagues ahead of what LE currently offers now.

Nobody ever said that about GD as its an offline SP game that requires no ongoing revenue stream.

LE devs have arguably ****ed up repeatedly for about the last year, and Blizzard have changed in so much that D4 is actually really pretty good (i mean they are still a horrific company but 'something something capitalism bad' I mean so are Tencent)

I always find it fun when people point and laugh at D3 as some failure. I mean I hated it at release, but yet there it is on wikipedias best selling computer games ever, at now 26 with 30 million copies sold... and its highly likely D4 will outsell it as D3 was absolutely horrible on release.
