Ofc. you can always make fun out of the box build and see how long you can push it.
But again not many that have good synergies between player and pet.
One i do like that have it. is the primalist and crow lightning build, as you can make crows damage scale from your lightning damage. You however still need to give them some minion health that will not benefit you.
I also made a primalist build where i used the bear to constant have aggro and tank wile i had the damage, also worked well.
And there are afew necro was to make hybrid also.
And the rogues balista can also be hybrid.
I could never get a pet build to work in Grim Dawn though. :( But it's actually good in LE.
A well built character with a playstyle you do good with will take you way further.
Obviously the golems wont be as powerful as if you went necro and put a lot on minions, but overall.. it works to keep aggro off of you and you can do decent damage with dots..
idk what they're really getting at or trying to prove, but they really like saying it.
its not like the same thing isnt technically true in PoE as well. I've done leagues where IIRC I cleared end-game content like elder and shaper with like a lightning-warp totem build of all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nonsense. You can do pretty much anything you want in any decent arpg as long as you get the high-school level math right.
@OP
As you may gather from the variety of builds mentioned in posts, Pet builds can be pretty idiosyncratic in LE in part because each pet skill, and each skill that buffs pets/allies/yourself are so customizable. Idk what the particulars of each and every hybrid build are or even if they're considered 'meta' in this early access game, but some commonalities you may expect in Hybrid builds is that they'll benefit strongly from
-Primary stats like STR for primalist because it buffs both you and your minions in every way
-Debuffs like Bleed because DoTs from minions scale with minion damage stats and primary stats, whereas sometimes DoTs from other sources are harder to scale. Additionally there tends to be specific Hybrid support for DoTs
-Buffs from skills that affect both you and your minions

Well according to the lead developer mike, LE is balanced such that even a purposefully bad build can progress into empowered monoliths. His benchmark for a non-guide build is 200 corruption, and 500 corruption is cartoonist water spitting voice cracking volume trembling "really high" So I would imagine you can make anything progress if you temper your expectations.
The average player will not reach the levels where there is any difference to notice, going off of how LE is "balanced" according to mike.
That means there is little difference between random selection, knowingly picking wrong, and using the in game search function for the term "more" again using the lead developer statement.
Pick what you want, play what you want, and until you hit a fair intro level of corruption it wont matter.
Course this is all with a grain of salt, as mike believes 500 corruption is "very high"
When you level up you can still notice a huge difference between builds. Some make it way easier then others, faster or easier depending on what items you have.
Agree that you can complet all content even without gear if you want to kite forever and never take a hit.
Who said anything about gear? I thought we were talking about "builds" and how viable a hybrid build would be.
Fact is according to the lead developer everything is viable and there are no wrong choices and progress will come to you because that is how LE is designed to be.
Gear is part of a build.
Never said there a wrong choices, but there will always be some builds and choices that do better then others...
If a monster only has X health and you are dealing 2X-10X damage how dead is the monster? Better in LE is subjective, I cant help but think you want to quibble over superfluous details. If you have a problem with the notion that everything is deserving of progression and no choice you make really matters until way way later then perhaps take it up with the developer?
"no choice you make really matters until way way later"
That is just simply wrong.
I said it before and i say it again, you have never anything good to say about the game, way do you keep trolling and ruin the forum with your ever ending hate to the game.
Its so annoying and ruin the forum for others.
