Micro transaction hell, and P2W here we come. Great.
Yeaterday i played OW2 after a long time (i miss OW1) and realised that i now have to pay for new heros while having actually paid full price for OW1 xD
I agree, however your description of the CCP is also a description that applies to the United States government.
PoE was a way different game before Tencent. As I recall there were no new currencies and crafting 'materials' every season and hence no need to invest in specialized tabs. If that has to do with Tencent or just GGG becoming more greedy I do not know.
POE changed shortly after Tencent joined the scene. Its the same with darktide either.... before tencent (in vermintide2) it was a fair thing with a shop where you could always buy costumes with real cash and only need to pay for what you want. After tencent joined you have premium currency in the game and FOMO. And of course the game had only 5 maps at release but the shop was fully ready of course.
Sorry but the sheer number of games tencent is involved and they ALL "devolved" into same practice..... and you know what? In Every forum you find some clowns or paid voiced that defend Tencent practice. Last epoch will be NO different in the end.
All companies have this strategy... its called Capitalism
That is an naive simplification of the relationship the CCP has with Chinese companies.
It is certainly true that while nobody in the West not even the highest level security operatives truly understands the relationship CCP has with private companies, but it certainly has more control or influence than Western equivalents.
But to say its 'an arm of the CCP' just shows you have barely looked beyond scare puff pieces in drama farming outlets for your sources.
If you honestly think Xis government officials spend their days micromanaging every business they have stakes in like Bond villains then you are basically resigning yourself to the fact they already won as it would require ludicrous amounts of 4d chess style planning and operations.
You are free to dislike their connection to the CCP but leave the hyperbole at the door.
Yes but when Western countries do it, it's called liberating, modernising or democratising... go figure
i think the aforementioned mar 2022 announcement they made it pretty clear what they were looking for
Anyway, Tencent have a lot of investments in the videogame industry, big and small. So there is that.
History is written by the winners. Actually what the US did on Japan (throwing atomic bombs on big Japan cities), is on par with german genocide with jews.
Very entertaining thread, thanks guys
You miss the concentration camps on the US southern border for the last decade or something? All that ♥♥♥♥ has happened there. Or the treatment of its indigenous population, or the invasion of Iraq, or the massacres of people in Indonesia and on and on and on.
tencent really does tend to kill most games that do not make constant influxes of money to a barely sustainable degree.
their servers are almost always not great, too. another reason HC/HCSAF is doomed on Last Epoch.
Bummer.
