THis game will decent into pay to win like all tencent games. There will be predatory shop concepts and FOMO.
EVERY Tencent game does this over time. Its their primary gaming concept. I have seen this far too often to be coincidence. Its a FACT.
Damn it.... Last epoch would have been my favorite ARPG. Got allready even hardcore chars.....
How could you sell your soul to the MOST predatory gaming Company on earth. Compared to Tencent Diablo immoral looks like a fair game.
I could cry realy.....
Have you took the time to read the post someone linked? So much doom and gloom lol :D chill out
TBF they have posted lots of things like this
They stress repeatedly its a completely one sided deal with no pressure or expectation from Tencent.
Personally I find that unlikely, Tencent did not become one of the largest publishers on earth by throwing money at startups with zero expectations or way of minimising losses.
I think anyone who believes otherwise is deluded.
For the record I have no issue with Tencent (well no more issue with them than any large corporation or publisher)
If a truly indie game is what you want Grim Dawn is >>>> that way...
Crate have remained free from all exterior control since their inception, and resisted investment and buyout offers from MS among others.
Everyone's concerns about Tencent are legit. However, Tencent is a company. It's also very possible they just saw some easy money without any control over the project based on how much they invested (they obviously research these things), and with hopes of more games down the road for added profit. They have so much control over so many thing, that they do not have to have control over everything. Money is money.
For China, that's money going to them and not the Western Nations, so its a win win with or without control.
I guess we will just have to trust EHG and take their word for it. Time will tell either way.
P.S. Good song, good album!
No, is a steam thing,
Tencent is just an inversor, actually owns only 25% of the company, got full ownership of GGG and they are doing great, and they do as they please.
So there's no evidence the Tencent thing is really an issue. China? Is just as untrustworthy as any USA company.
Sadly that ship has sailed for me, they lost my trust a year or so ago. I'm sure they don't care but yeah I distrust most of what EHG says these days.
Oddly enough I think its somewhat helped blur some lines for them in terms 'optics'. I see people regularly pointing at the MTXs and saying how its clear Tencent wanted that, when in reality that was always EHGs plan even prior to Tencent being on the scene.
PS.
This is a "tell me without telling me" that you don't know much about how China operates or the differences between a corporation with headquarters in the US vs a corporation with deep operating ties to the CCP.
Tencent has at least partial ownership over lots of great studios and has their hands in lots of great games. It's unfortunate and absolutely warrants concern. That doesn't mean you have to give up playing games but at least get your head out of the sand.
Shhhhhhhhh, hush, and be quiet. You're being dramatic.
He really is. I hope he realizes that Diablo 4 is made by Activision Blizzard, which Tencent also has stakes in...
Who cares, a brainwashed lad, hes out of his mind. D4 is the most predatory ARPG we have seen till today.
