Unique Target farm buggy or loot changed?

So i am trying to "target farm" a unique ring that is essential for my build and it says that ring would drop in age of winter...i already completed around 35 echoes and had 3 locations with promised unique ring, yet i never got a ring. 2times i got armor and once a sword.?!? that is srsly frustrating...

make sure you are reading exactly what the reward is, as the icon for a random unique item is a ring. but doesn't guarantee you a ring, as it is a random unique of any type

The boss of Age of Winter does not drop a unique ring.

It's Helm, Shield, Bow, Boots.

The guide/build you are reading (or last epoch tools) is telling you that farming Age of Winter is the best way to get the ring due to the fact that Age of winter spawns the specific: "Unique or Set Ring" echo rewards.
It'll be a picture of a ring with an orangey/green backgrounds. That is what you are hunting.

The just generic unique ring symbol is just "a unique item" and can be anything.

yea the first of the 3 im not sure, but the second and third unique echo rewards 100% said "unique ring" as a reward and neither gave me a ring. and the ring is supposed to drop from "unique or set ring echo reward"...

i mean if i would get a ring and its just not the right one would be one thing...but to say i get a unique ring and then something totally different drops is kinda really bad

As mentioned, make sure you are selecting the correct echoes within The Age of Winter timeline.

In the picture above:

• The echo on the left will give a "Random Unique Item", which can be any world drop unique.
  
• The echo on the right will give a "Unique or Set Ring", which can be any world drop unique or set ring. These echoes are also more rare and are more likely to appear as you increase corruption and venture further from the center of the timeline.

Additionally, you can do the following to help improve your odds of a world drop unique ring being dropped by enemies:

• Get the Grand Talon of Granduer[www.lastepochtools.com] blessing from The Stolen Lance timeline, which grants "(35% to 75%) Increased Ring Drop Rate". This will cause more rings (including Unique and Set rings) to drop for you without affecting how many items of other types drop.
  
• Get the Grand Winds of Fortune[www.lastepochtools.com] blessing from the Fall of the Outcasts timeline, which grants "(16% to 22%) Increased Unique Drop Rate". This will increase the odds of items that drop to be unique.
  
• Increase corruption and the number of active modifiers, preferably in Empowered timelines, to increase the "Increased Item Rarity" stat.
  

  Increased Item Rarity is an effect you will build up by going deep into the Monolith of Fate. Both corruption and the number/type of enemy modifiers currently active in a Timeline will boost its increased item rarity. This modifier increases the average number of affixes on items, resulting in more Rare items and more Exalted items. It also increases the chance of finding Unique and Set items.

• You can also use the Rune of Ascendence on any ring base type for a chance to roll any world drop unique or set ring. These runes are rare so it's up to you if or how many of them you wish to use trying to get this item.

I've literally never had that happened. There is no reward that just says "unique ring" though. It is only unique/set.

The picture of just a unique ring is just Unique item and can be anything.

because i got confused with a few not dropping a ring but saying i would get one, i did read the reward multiple times and it said ring. and the unique/set one for ring i only got once and i am pretty sure that wasnt a ring either...but not 100% on that one.. so u say generally the ring i need only drops from those green/orange echo nodes?

It wouldn't only drop from the orange/green ring echo nodes. However, these echoes will provide you the best odds of it dropping -- outside of using the Rune of Ascendence (which is a rare drop).

allright thanks for the detailed answer mate :) this is my first time playing the game and my first build. so every info about how things work is really appreciated! farming the winter timeline was a bit harder than the last since im lvl 79 and the timeline is 91 currently :D with no mobility skill and some lagging here and there i sometimes get oneshot out of nowhere^^ guess i just have to keep grinding then!
