To top it all off not only is RM just a better sorcerer, with the only feature the sorcerer has that the RM does not being meteor (as far as we know) the RM also gets passives that "steal" the focus from sorcerer with the ward max mana theme. Great Googly Moogly, the RI version of black hole is just all around better. Oh but what about the crit meteor build I hear you say? Well the RM gets auto cast style as well just swap meteor for static orbs, all baked into the kit.
So to sum it up based on what we know right now the sorcerer has meteor, and the mastery passive going for it. To borrow a phrase the sorcerer is just a stat stick of passives.
I mean tbf when you have no concept for the class beyond 'cool name' and have to suddenly design it at the eleventh hour, you have to steal *cough* sorry I mean take your inspiration from somewhere right ?
"I’m sorry you feel betrayed about the class not being what you expected. It is constantly evolving and I tried to spread the word this past year that runemaster wouldn’t have a pet as we initially thought. I’m sorry we weren’t clear enough on that."
Oh you mean in the dark corner of the internet where your live stream getting a total of roughly 2K views of your 10K subscribers? Or did you mean in the unofficial roadmap that was tacitly endorsed where there is zero mention?
Of course only a few were aware, and of course it was deliberate just like last time and the time before that and so on. Of course it smashed that dopamine button like it owed you money because this is the internet and saying your super sorry, even though you actually did not, is all the worth in the world to "people" who cheer the false advertising EHG provides.
Great Googly Moogly, mike even had to be reminded, with a link, that the old class description was still up.
That is ofcourse setting aside all of the cannibalization we have come to expect from how EHG "designs".
Reading that couldn't help but think of this...

At least in that video they actually apologized. Notice the legalese, "I'm sorry you feel betrayed" is not an apology. "I'm sorry we wern't clear enough" is not an apology for the deception but the communication they knew would not be effective just looking at the numbers. What was the sales count last time EHG bragged about it? 500K and even if every single subscriber watched that live stream its what 10.3K views no one in their right mind would think that is an effective way to communicate, but that was not the goal was it?
they apparently wont release this game until their feelings feel better so they basically have infinite time to reiterate etc
i say they should add some summons. give em a fire / ice / lightning golem as one of their spell casty combo thinggys
the real invoker has summons >_>
not everybody plays dumbass dota man, c'mon
Uhm.... what's that non-issue with stealing/getting inspiration? on 99% of games of a genre, all features are just iterations of existing features in other games, is extremely rare to get a completely new concept.
I don't expect to any ARPG to re-define the genre, that would be extremely rare and will not happen with any game I know.
Blizzard got the genre-defining games iterating on concepts already existing in other games. I don't see an issue with that.
BTW the only one that will kill D4 is Blizzard themselves, and they are going straight into it.
Yeah 300k daily players its literally on its knees.
It sold over like 12 million copies or something ridiculous. It earned Blizzard pot loads of cash.
People who doom monger about D4 clearly didn't live through D3. That was magnitudes worse than D4 on release and is still supported to this day, some people even now hold it up as superior to D4. Blizzard have many MANY faults, dropping support for their games is not one them.
So a big company with a track record is still subject to potential pitfalls in development and should be taken to task when they fail to deliver. I can get behind this statement generally.
But a smaller company with zero previous experience can just push out *gestures vaguely at everything* not avoiding the same pitfalls but lurching from one to another and they are to be celebrated for it?
Or is it because there can be only one game in the genre and if X is not up to standard it makes Y suddenly better? You do know two things can be true at the same time right?
"people" who blindly defend and carry the water of corporations are the reason why we have this situation be it blizzard, EHG, or any other company.
It should not take 4 years to come up with invoker but dialed up to 12, with a combination of outcomes that only chess masters can meaningfully maintain. Meaning Invoker already has a skill cap people struggle with, there is no way a LE player is going to be able to capitalize on that RI skill tree. Not to mention all the other issues with the class.
I think this is also apt:
“But the plans were on display…”
“On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.”
“That’s the display department.”
“With a flashlight.”
“Ah, well, the lights had probably gone.”
“So had the stairs.”
“But look, you found the notice, didn’t you?”
“Yes,” said Arthur, “yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.”
It really is amazing how often that Douglas Adams quote is applicable to how EHG "communicates".
