We know that these offline saves will not be wiped, which are all currently created characters. So any progress you make now during early access will still exist when the game launches and will be available to play in the offline mode of the game.
However, these offline characters will not be transferred to the server-authoritative multiplayer when it arrives with patch 0.9 on March 9th, for security reasons. All players will thus be starting anew in the online mode (multiplayer). All multiplayer character save files will be stored on servers rather than your local machine.
As for our future multiplayer beta saves (characters made in the online mode of patch 0.9 and beyond) the current plan, barring any unforeseen issues, is to bring these into a "standard cycle" at 1.0 (launch), as Mike Weicker, a senior developer at EHG, states in this dev stream on November 18, 2022 (from 36:25 to 38:18 of the video).
i think this typ of game is not your thing.
I literally JUST started playing again so I dont see ny reason to start playing 2 days before a wipe.
Dont worry though... someday youll be able to read
There be no wipe and never will be. The current characters are offline only characters, multiplayer characters will be server side and there be season/leader and non-season/ladder characters like in Diablo 2.
theyll just be moved to the "useless" pile. they are trying to create a distinction between wiped and useless and there isnt one. a new league will start and everything you did before it will be useless in that league.
a bigger reason not to play is half the classes are gimped because they havent added the remaining masteries yet.
so yea you still have access to the useless characters, but you cant use them in relevant content or get items from their storage or anything like that.
That is the plan. At 1.0 multiplayer characters (those created in the online mode) during patch 0.9 and beyond will be placed into a "standard cycle" and a new cycle will begin for those that want to start fresh.
Can plans change, sure, so I can't guarantee this is exactly what will happen. But, barring any unforeseen issues, you should still be able to play all your previously created online characters at 1.0 in the standard cycle.
