Portal: what am I missing

2 things seem to be true of the Portals in the game but they simply can't be and I assume I am missing something in both case.

1) If I create my own Portal and enter it, I am being taken to the closest hub rather than getting to chose where to go. (If I use the map to do this without placing a Portal, I can go anywhere I want).

2) More serious... once I place a Portal and teleport to the hub (e.g to sell loot), I cannot see a way to get back to the Portal I placed and instead I am having to walk all the way from the nearest Waygate. I'm sure I used to be able to do this, and it is ludicrous to not be able to. Please advise.

Same problem here. Portal re-entry does not show up where you portaled to.

Yeah, the return portal just isn't showing up. I hope it's a bug because if not, I won't be playing this anymore.

If it is a bug, it's a bit gamebreaking for me. I am going to wait until they fix it to play again, unless it isn't a bug and then I'm just done playing permanently.
