How to change display name?

How do i change it? It is hard locked to my Steam name. Kinda pointless to name individual characters when all i see is my steam name in game.

I have a similar issue except that my display name is locked to the one I had before patch 0.9 so now that is what I see instead of my steam name which is what I would prefer.

I came here for this. Kind takes the fun out of creating a character when all I see is my Steam name. :(

why is it that in the character creation screen you can name your toon but in game your steam name is there will this change anytime soon?

why is this even a thing? who thought displaying account name instead of character names is a good idea? AND WHO APPROVED OF IT?!

The first time i started game it asked me to enter a user name and im pretty sure its done that way so when your friends are playing alts you can still see them without having to add every toon on the account.

very annoying, I don't want to see my steam name in ANY game, specially not an RPG where I might be swapping characters.

You can play offline. In offline mode there's no account nonsense at all.
