It's not perfect yet and there's still plenty of functionality missing but I've played the game for a long time now using only the controller, with some additional kb&m inputs for actions I can't yet do with controller, and it's worked quite well -- especially in combat (though movement abilities still need to be adjusted as they will lock onto enemies, which you don't always want).
It's certainly not up to the standards of Diablo 3's implementation of controller support, but hopefully it'll be much closer to it by launch.
I say pretty much as the last few event's they have had showing their new .90 latch had issues were your couldn't complete a couple quests or use way points for some reason. For quests the options didn't open for you to hit A, and for them and the way point using the right stick as a mouse pointer would highlight them but it was like the A button simply didn't work and I had to use the mouse to correct it.
Those issues are still in and not fixed I would say the game is like 98% able to be played with controller only, they are fixed then 100% controller only playable.
Their are some things a M&K make things quicker using like buying and selling from the vendor ( shift click to buy and sell rather than dragging a item ) and clicking on a key to bring up dungeon map location, but that's about it.
Plays like D3, GD, TQ , left stick to move, right stick mouse for inventory management and moving over getting far off items in big drops, D-pad for portal and dungeon specific mechanics, skills are standard set compared to those games for button placement and feel good. Start for main menu opening, select for the game hub.( using PS5 controller can do that using the touch square)
I play most games on PC using a controller and this game feels natural playing with it, like most of the better games in this genre that were made with controller support and porting to consoles in mind.
I would suggest trying another controller and see if you get the same issues.
Thanks for the info! Bummed to see you have to use a emulated mouse for inventory management on controller. I could deal with it all but that. At least its coming int he final build, guess I will just grab the game then
