What's it really good for - some games from 10+ years ago?
It runs almost every game that has Linux support, or can be adapted to Linux with maybe seven times more power than a Switch.
If a game runs poorly on it, that's usually a statement about the game's devs, not the deck. It runs Elden Ring, Doom 2016, Doom Eternal etc fine. Plenty of new games running smoothly on the deck.
It's also going to be the only device most people own that doesn't have an o/s that spies on them 24/7 to sell data.
I view the deck as something for emulating old consoles, and for indie games. If youre trying to run something pushing fancy graphics, dedicated PC is the way. Something where 60fps be alright and the game is stylized so looks good at lower resolution and isnt relying on tons of graphics and detail, deck would be fine.
Ultimately, Ive got a good computer and dont see myself ever touching a portable anything again, other than my phone. No incentive to buy a steam deck IMHO.
I was thinking it would be good to stream my desktop to in bed MAYBE...but I can do that with my phone so ehhh, whatever.
Most of this isn't true, it's definitely not interesting and no one asked. Thanks for blogging your strange thoughts though. You can just not buy something without having to justify it, I'm not a salesman for the deck
Doom is in fact, incredibly optimized compared to many games. Using a highly optimized and great performing title as an example of good performance is misleading....its the exception and not the rule in performance.
Even elden ring is only a 30fps 720p game on the steam deck....to me...thats garbage. Not what I would use as an example to tell people the thing gets decent performance or handles modern titles.
If you think opinions are true or false....thats unfortunate. Best of luck to ya out there in the world buddy.
three posts up, fargol asked what these devices are good for. Personally I said how I see it being good if I were to buy one. Streaming high quality from my PC and emulators with the ability to do well with most indie or stylized looking single-player games.
This was a question about if the game will be optimized for deck on launch, grats on your third self obsessive paragraph, just go look up the deck hardware if you have any questions but I really don't think anyone is interested in why you do or do not buy things, have another anime
