This game is going to flop if

They do not get multiplayer our soon with the soon to be diablo 2 remake games like these will die off for awhile. if i was the devs it would be my top priority and not some dumb litlte ♥♥♥♥ nobody asks for.

diablo 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, and I'm EXTREMELY excited for D2R.

but D2R is going to be a nostalgia trip that will last 6 months. Unless the rumors about them making balance and possibly content updates after launch are true. It won't be killing off any other ARPGs.

I don't think its going to die off if multiplayer isn't out by the time the DII remaster comes out but its going to have a good fight against path of exile II and diablo iv and lost ark when it gets released here

I'll never understand the constant obsession for multiplayer in this genre. Actual party mechanics, teamwork, and character synergy are not implemented well in Diablo or any of its clones - except for maybe the original Diablo, since it was much slower-paced and a much more difficult game. Titan Quest was a hard "maybe" - again due to the comparatively slower pace. (Before the anniversary changes, anyway.)

That being said, I don't own Last Epoch yet, so maybe it will be different? I rather doubt it though. So no, I don't think it would be a "flop" if they neglected multiplayer - at least not with me personally. I'm quite happy playing these sort of titles by myself, and enjoying co-op for games that don't just have it tacked on.

Bit of a tangent, but to this day I'm still quite miffed about Marvel Heroes getting shut down - which could have been avoided if not for the always online multiplayer obsession. (Not that LE requires a server, thank god.)

As much as I would like to agree with you that yes tacked on co-op is never that great if they didnt have co-op originaly planned. Sorry but yes on higher tiers team work and co-op is very important. This kind of genra co-op is important. If you wana play a solo thats your choice and many other rpg typ games id completely agree with you but not in this genre not at all it needs co-op.

regular diablo 2 and lod and even project diablo 2 each have 7k plus players online any giving time. so yes, i think d2r will kill the other ARpgs because diablos pvp. remasters pvp will be insane.

lel this Game will not flop ! First they do a great job so far . Fast Updates and linked to the Community . They set the Priority right ! i woud love to play this game in multiplayer but for a good game i will wait a bit longer and this game still in beta so no Problem !

If Diablo 2 comes out with out instanced loot and other QoL features that other modern aRPGs already have.... It's gonna die soon actually... in about 1-2 seasons...

People will move on to either D2 mods like Project Diablo 2 or Path of Diablo etc.... or they are gonna play other aRPGs.... and we already see that .... most players play Project Diablo 2 instead of OG Diablo 2 on bnet....

Nostalgia is good for a while....but after a while you will see the outdated flaws the game has.... and the majority of players will move on to other games....

They have the perfect opportunity here to implement some QoL features to the game to make it a lot better for todays standards.... if they miss it... players will move on.


ps. Just like what happened with Classic WoW.... the brainless #nochanges crowd killed the game.... and only bots play this game now just like in OG Diablo 2 bnet...
