Blizzard North (or Condor) made them.
Blizzard North had 12 employees when they started production of Diablo, and about 15 at the end. They had 24 when they started Diablo II, and about 40 when they finished.
Yes, having a great big parent (Blizzard) did mean they had support that an independent would not have, but ... the actual functional number of people who built Diablo and Diablo II was pretty low. Eleventh Hour has 19 employees so ... not that different.

That said, I'm all for giving them time to get the game right.
Blizzard came back to Condor and gave them an offer and that offer was to be acquired and become Blizzard North. Straight from the get go, they had lots of funding from Blizzard.
Eleventh Hour Games has us :)
Fair enough. I'm not trying to spread misinformation, but data on Eleventh Hour isn't quite as easy to find as that on Blizzard North.
My point remains: The number of people who actually built the iconic games that pretty much defined the genre was actually pretty small. Regardless of who financed them.
lol I haven't seen so much as a stutter from this game so far; it eats CPU and Memory like nothing I've ever seen, which isn't ideal, but it has been far better than POE ever has for me, performance wise.
Care to elaborate how its inaccurate? I mean do you have more? Less? Or is this something you are keen to keep private?
Not to be combative but thats a pretty snarky response to someone who was trying to give a measured reply to what could have been a baity type thread.
Except this is inaccurate (see what I did there
Also this is the nature of the beast, D2 remains a high watermark for the genre, as do games like GD and POE, so of course people will compare them. I don't think anyone with any real integrity is expecting this game to compete with any of them right off the bat, that would be unfair, but you can bet your left eye people will compare them at release.
And your post is equally unhelpful as the so called 'stupid things' people are complaining about. Like who on earth are you to decide what is stupid and what is not? All threads like this do is create battlegrounds, and more bad feeling on both sides, they aren't helpful.
Unfortunately a lot of negative feedback are from folks that would rather complain about a game instead of utilizing the resources that have been provided, IE: fill out a bug report, report issues in specific forums, provide the devs with dxdiag files or crash logs, etc.
A lot of gamers tend to be very lazy and unwilling to put forth any real effort to help resolve the issue, hence why I believe early access titles on Steam should have limits on how and when someone can post a review (tons of reviews with less than a few hours) and more control given to devs to remove posts when those folks refuse to comply and provide needed info to address their situation.
In most cases I have seen, a lot of gamers may not meet the new min requirements to play the game and then complain that their out dated windows 7 should be supported by devs even though Microsoft no longer supports it, and/or blame the game for not being optimized 100% during alpha/beta, or demand the devs make it so it can magically run on their potato.
Outdated drivers seem to play a big roll in many issues and sometimes their AV or other 3rd party program will block or cause crashing to happen with an update.
Fortunately this game has mostly good reviews and enough quality gamers to drown out the small minority of negative players who refuse to do the bare minimum to help themselves or help the devs to address their issues.
Yeah, I'm still curious. How many employees do they have?
If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong, but a bit more detail from the dev would indeed have been nice.
But this team is on a-whole-nother level because they use VULKAN API!
