Am really impressed with what I see so far, I do hope it releases into a great game.
People just don't seem to understand that no matter how nicely you try to put it.
It's not a dead game, it's a great game. Sadly it lacks too much and in my opinion there are not enough significant updates. Fixing a dumb chat scroll shouldn´t even be considered an update. This game seriously but seriously lacks 3D models of armors, if you change gears your character will look exactly the same most of the time and that alone is a deal breaker for an ARPG if you can call it that without character customization. Gender locked classes. Promises of multiplayer for what seems to be years now. Really really bad animations, among many other things i could go on and on. It is an EA game sure, but it has been so since 2018 and you don't see much going on. The multiplayer should had been priority yet they make you PAY for a SINGLE PLAYER GAME that works ONLINE ONLY. Let that sink in.
This game is good, but its not good enough to compete with any top ARPG and it will be declared a dead game soon as the major ones hit the market. This is my prediction and i won´t be wrong. I had fun but i wish i had refunded this game before the 2 hours limit, and possibly buy it again once i actually see something good worth playing and paying for.
Looking at steam charts, It's sitting at 19% of the active players it had at the start of the year. People can get upset but numbers don't lie. Dropping 81% of your player base in 6 months isn't good no matter how you slice it.
I think you should learn to read at numbers. The numbers of players are 3X to 4X what they were 6 months or one year ago.
In fact, the number of players has never been so big than these last 6 months (and the game isn't even released in 1.0).
Perhaps you should look again: https://steamcharts.com/app/899770
I looked at this thread and see all these people taking about how D2 is being released......sooo the new one is the same game as before with slightly updated graphics???
Why would anyone be so stoked for what you already have?
This Game does not seam dead to me.
People super stoked about D2 coming out again and spending 50 dollars for the same game I am thinking their brain matter might be slightly dead.
Because Diablo 2 has a stupid amount of people playing even after all these years, maybe you should wake up. the fact you saying all this, only helps validating what i'm saying. If Diablo 2 is that old and outdated and ♥♥♥♥ then why tf does Project Diablo 2 has 12k to 16j people online on weekends, a number that Last Epoch or in fact any current ARPG on steam can only dream of having. Except for whale money grabbing POE. Yes it is an old game that thousands of people will go back to once its improved, don't even need to think twice. Claiming Diablo 2 is old wont stop the thousands of players joining while games like these are left to rot and die.
I think you're the one with a dead brain if you still fail to realize Diablo 2 will kill competition even after 20 years.
I need to "learn to read at numbers" because the players at 4x what they were 6 months ago? Ok lets look.
7/22: 1,317
1/31: 1,403
So maybe you need help. See there's a chart up top you can hover over, it shows numbers. Crazy.
Ok, let's go:
november 2020: 286 average players (almost the same numbers the entire year, less than 1000 the entire year)
december 2020: 832 average players.
June 2021: 1563 average players.
last 30 months (2x june to 2x july): 1504 average players.
between the year 2020 (less than 500 in average) and 2021 (1500) it's X3.
If you prefer peak numbers (which don't make sense but...).
year 2020: between 100 and 1300 peak players.
year 2021: between 900 and 7200.
december 2020: 2700
july 2021: 3001
Between 2020 (between 600-800 in average, i didn't made the exact maths, don't need it) and 2021 (3k-4k in average) it's X3 or X4 too.
1) When you want to have numbers who are significant, you take them on a long period. So, a week vs a week, or a month vs a month, or a year vs a year, rather than just one day vs one day, where everything can happen.
Updates which will up the numbers, or the day just before a patch where there wasn't any other patch for months and so where numbers will be of course lower. People who are not before their screen and went in holydays somewhere else. There is a ton of reasons.
It's like statistic, bigger is the sample, better and more reliable it is. Smaller the sample is, less reliable it is. At the least you did compare a wednesday with a monday and not with a weekend (saturday or sunday). It's already not so bad. I've already saw worse (like comparing numbers on an hour period between the prime time and another at the middle of the night).
2) The last year the average players numbers were between 100 and 700. This year it's between 1300 and 1500. How is it possible to see that like a down rather than a up ? Seriously.
3) Even with your exemple, 1403 from 6 months ago to 1317 now, shows the numbers are stable. Especially if we take in consideration than July is a month of holidays and the last patch wasn't released recently.
So, i don't see where you're 81% drop comes from.
Can you explain how 1403 to 1317 means a 81% drop.
I would be curious to see your demonstration, just to see who is needing help with maths :)
Ps: oh i forgot, of course what is important is the average players number (which show how many people plays regularly) and not the peak players (which shows the maximum of players in just one T period, from the day or from the month, depends of your sample. Without any proof they played instead of coming to see the game progress and quit until the next patch or until the game would be finished).
Just in case where you would want to find this exit... (but even like that, you will have some difficulty because the peak players from 07-2021 is bigger than every month from the 2020 year).
Good luck and take your time. (and don't forget the saying: "It's better to keep quiet and leave a doubt on your intelligence than to speak and remove all doubt".)
THIS would be crazy :)
Wow for writing so much you miss basic points like the fact that I used Feb (clearly the peak) not Jan. You're having to ignore so many things to rationalize that the game is doing well. These are the ramblings of a crazy person lol.
